Shoplifter Arrested in Crown Heights After Being Spotted By Shomrim Volunteer

Some people just aren’t smart, and some people are less smart than that.

A shoplifter wanted for stealing from Little Toes in Crown Heights was nabbed Thursday after he was spotted by an eagle eyed Shomrim volunteer. He was ultimately caught entering the same store he had previously stolen from.

The staff of Little Toes had a good idea of whom they were looking for after reviewing security camera footage from Wednesday’s shoplifting. Armed with what he looked like, they easily identified him as he strolled by the store again on Thursday. They immediately called Shomrim, and soon after he was being watched by a volunteer.

From a Bodega on Empire Blvd, the volunteers tailed him while waiting for the police to arrive, and when they did, the irony was apparent.

The officers arrived just as the man was entering a store on Kingston Ave, the store being the one he had stolen from the day before, Little Toes on Kingston Ave. Suffice it to say, he now has two shiny new bracelets on his wrists.

Shomrim published a Tweet announcing the arrest and thanking the 71st Precinct for their collaboration.

“After shoplifting from a local clothing store yesterday, he came back for more, but this time, our vols were one step ahead of him,” Shomrim wrote. “Great collaboration with responding @NYPD71Pct officers results in one UNDER arrest.”
