96-year-Old Man Shot After Nearby Robbery Goes Bad

A 96-year-old man was hospitalized Monday morning after being shot in the ankle when a robbery went bad nearby.

According to reports, a 39-year-old woman was being robbed of her coat and cash at gunpoint at the playground in Kingsborough Houses at Bergen Street and Rochester Avenue just after 9:30am, when she attempted to flee towards the intersection. Her assailant fired at her, missing her but striking the 96-year-old man in the ankle instead.

The shooting victim was transported by EMS to Kings County Hospital where he is reported to be in stable condition.
