A crises was averted in the early hours of Thursday morning when a knife wielding woman was stopped by Shomrim after being caught rummaging in peoples pockets at the Kingston Ave Simchas Beis Hashoeva.

Shomrim first received a call about a suspicious person putting their hands into peoples coat pockets around 5:30am in the area of Crown Street and Kingston Ave. The volunteers were there within moments and were able to isolate her in the area of Carroll Street and Kingston Ave, where she began brandishing a very sharp broken knife.

Working with the police officers stationed at the event, the woman was peacefully disarmed and removed by the police.

“Crisis Averted! Amongst the many calls we responded to throughout the night & early AM, this woman was reported sticking her hands in people’s pockets,” Crown Heights Shomrim wrote on Twitter. “Our Vol’s were able to isolate her away from the festivities & along with @NYPD71Pct removed this blade from her. #Collaboration”
