Lubavitcher Victim Assaulted Without Provocation In Crown Heights

A Lubavitcher who had stepped out in front of his home on Union Street was set upon and attacked Tuesday morning in a startling assault.

The victim, identified as a 57-year-old Jewish male, had just stepped out of his home on Union Street around 7:00am when a dark skinned male suddenly grabbed him.

According to reports, the assailant ripped at the victims suit and grabbed his hat off his head as they grappled together. Ultimately, the victim was able to fight off his attacker who fled the scene.

The victim suffered light injuries in the attack and did not require medical attention.

The police were called and are reportedly investigating the attack. Surveillance video from a nearby home showed the attacker, with the footage being provided to the police.

Crown Heights Shomrim was notified of the assault and are reminding the community that such incidents must be reported to Shomrim and 911 in real time, as the few precious minutes surrounding the incident give the greatest chance of catching the assailants.
