Man Arrested After Stealing From Crown Heights Office, Assaulting Jewish Man

by CrownHeights.info

A thief was arrested Thursday evening thanks to the collaboration between the NYPD and Crown Heights Shomrim.

The thief had entered a Jewish office on Empire Blvd uninvited and began asking for money from those inside. After being rejected, the thief left the office, but not before swiping some items on his way out.

The office workers gave chase, and after confronting the man, one was left with injuries to his hand.

911 and Crown Heights Shomrim were called, and Shomrim quickly caught up with the man as he entered the building at 899 Montgomery Street between Troy and Schenectady. The police arrived at the building soon after and entered in an attempt to locate the man.

Soon after the police entered, the man bolted from the building and was followed and stopped by Shomrim and the NYPD.

While the NYPD attempted to make the arrest, the man refused to comply, creating a scene as he was handcuffed and eventually led to a squad car.

The thief was ultimately arrested and charged with trespassing.
