A group of nearly twenty teenagers targeted a Lubavitcher outside of Lefferts Park Motzei Shabbos, marking the third such incident that Crown Heights Shomrim has responded to at the park since Friday.
“At the conclusion of Shabbos a large group of teens threw a ball, made threats, and started a fight, with a few community members coming home from Shul,” Shomrim reported on Twitter. “Thanks to a fast response by our Vol’s they fled the area averting an escalation.”
Video footage of the incident also published by Shomrim shows as the gang trades words with a pair of Lubavitchers, with one of the gang appearing to throw something that hit one of the Lubavitchers.
According to a tweet by Rabbi Yaakov Behrman, the victims said that the gang threatened them by saying “Where is the gun let’s get them. Where is the knife let’s stab them”.
Off-camera, Shomrim responded with multiple volunteers, tracking nearly a dozen of them as they scattered on Shomrim’s arrival.
Despite having camera footage, an identification on who assaulted the Lubavitcher was unable to be made, and no one was arrested.
“Tnx @NYPD71Pct for responding,” Shomrim said. “We are actively working with @NYPD71Pct to show a presence at the park over Pesach to prevent further incidents.”
Shomrim responded to two other incidents on Friday where groups of non-Jewish children and teenagers were bothering Jewish children. In both incidents, the Shomrim responded quickly and were able to deescalate the situation.
