Man Arrested, Accused of Grabbing A Jewish Girl in Crown Heights

A ten-year-old Jewish girl was traumatized Friday after she claims she was grabbed by a man while walking on a Crown Heights street.

According to the victim, she had been pushing an empty stroller on the sidewalk of President Street towards Troy Ave when a man approached her, walking in the opposite direction.

The victim said that the man suddenly reached out and grabbed her arm causing her to push the stroller at him and flee up a nearby set of steps.

A witness to the incident began to follow the man, who continued to nonchalantly walk to Albany Ave and down to the southern end of Crown Heights.

Surveillance video from a nearby home captured the incident, showing the girl as she attempted to push the stroller to the side of the sidewalk before the man came in contact with her.

The police and Shomrim were called, ending with the man in handcuffs near Rutland Rd and Albany Ave.

According to the arrested man, he had been tripped by the stroller, causing him to grab as he stumbled.

The man was taken into custody for endangering the welfare of a child and was transported by EMS for a psychiatric evaluation.

  • Plausible

His explanation, after reviewing the video, is plausible. He does appear to trip on the wheel of the stroller.
