Two Fraudsters Arrested After Stealing Credit Card, Demanding Family Hand Over “Their” Packages

When Jews stand their ground, great things can happen.

A pair of fraudsters are behind bars today after stealing a Jewish family’s credit card, then showing up and demanding the family hand over the arriving packages.

As previously reported on CrownHeights.info, a Crown Heights resident opened her phone on a recent Motzei Shabbos to find a texts from Chase Bank advising her that her credit card had been compromised.

Acting fast, the woman called Chase and canceled her compromised card, but as for the purchased merchandise, it was already too late. The thieves had ordered the illegally purchased items to the victims home in Crown Heights. Not to miss their arrival, the thief and an accomplice had pulled up on the victims block around 11:50am that Monday morning.

Surveillance video from the victims home shows as the suspected thief waited an incredible four hours for the FedEx delivery driver to arrive on the block before getting out of his car around 3:40pm and sitting on the victims front steps.

But it didn’t end there.

With another package arriving Tuesday morning, the thieves returned to the home, but with a stroke of good (or bad) luck, they arrived after the Jewish resident had already brought the package inside.

The pushy thieves then knocked on the homes door, demanding that the residents hand over “their” package.

With their name and address on the box, Jewish residents refused to hand the package over, instead calling Crown Heights Shomrim and 911.

Faced with the a police report from the prior incident and video evidence, the thieves claims turned around on them.

The two thieves, a 19-year-old and a minor, were arrested by the NYPD for grand larceny and possession of stolen property. Further charges of identity theft and others are up to the District Attorney’s office.

Crown Heights Shomrim thanked their volunteers and the NYPD for the arrest, tweeting “Great job by our Volunteers in facilitating an arrest and collaborating with @NYPD71Pct regarding two fraudsters. Job final: two UNDER for grand larceny and possession of stolen items.”

Sounds like they had everything planned out perfectly, except that they did this in Adar.
