Snowblower Recovered and Thief Behind Bars After Call to Crown Heights Shomrim

by CrownHeights.info

A man is behind bars today after attempting to steal a snowblower in Crown Heights.

The call was placed to Crown Heights Shomrim around 1:15pm Thursday afternoon, advising them of a man who was in the process of stealing a snowblower from a local building.

The man could be seen on the building’s surveillance cameras as he enters the building carrying a bag and walks through the building to the enclosed garage. There he can be seen perusing through a few parked snowblowers before picking the one he likes and dragging it out an emergency door.

They theft did not go unnoticed and a call was placed to Crown Heights Shomrim.

The Shomrim volunteers caught up with the man on Maple Street between Kingston and Albany and followed him to a bodega while calling 911.

Here the story becomes interesting, as the man attempted to drag the stolen snowblower in to the Bodega. Once inside, additional Shomrim volunteers arrived just in time to see the thief exit the Bodega without the snowblower.

After some discussion, the thief retrieved the blower from the Bodega and brought it outside, claiming that someone in the Bodega had made him steal the snowblower. After an attempt to leave the scene, he was again convinced to stick around until the police showed up.

The thief was arrested and the snowblower returned.
