Police-Involved Shooting Shuts Down Eastern Parkway Monday Morning

Eastern Parkway was shut down early Monday morning for an investigation after police shot and killed a knife-wielding man.

According to reports, the officers had responded to a 911 call for a man with a knife around 4:30am Monday morning near Eastern Parkway and Utica Ave. When the officers arrived, the man refused to put down the weapon, instead charging the police officers who attempted to tase him.

After what is claimed to be multiple failed attempts to tase the man, officers discharged their firearms, fatally injuring the knife-wielding man.

Locals reported hearing approximately 6-8 gunshots, followed soon after by the sound of a police helicopter.

The injured man was rushed to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to reports.

Eastern Parkwas was shut down in both directions as the police conduct an investigation.
