Shots Fired in Crown Heights As Gunpoint Robbery Foiled

A gunpoint robbery gone wrong took place in Crown Heights Motzei Shabbos when the robber opened fire, thankfully missing his target.

A police car was flagged down around 9:20pm at the corner of Nostrand Ave and Empire Blvd by a witness to what was originally believed to be a shooting.

According to the witness, a man described as a heavy set black man wearing a red sweatshirt and black vest, attempted to mug a person a gunpoint.

The person resisted, and the mugger opened fire, miraculously missing his target.

The mugger then fled southbound on Nostrand Ave according to the police. It remains unclear if he mugger had a vehicle, which was reported by a witness as one that was unregistered and had no license plates.

Police closed off the street as they investigated the incident.

The shooting is not believed to be connected with another shooting that took place Thursday night just one block away on Lefferts and Nostrand, where shots were fired but no injuries were reported.
