Arrest Made After Recidivist Burglar Caught by Shomrim Again

by CrownHeights.info

A Crown Heights Shomrim volunteer arriving home in the early hours of Tuesday morning facilitated the arrest of a notorious thief in Crown Heights.

The volunteer had been parking his car when he saw a man trying door handles on Union Street near Brooklyn Ave. Recognizing the man as the notorious McKracken, whose crime sprees have terrorized Crown heights for years, the volunteer immediately called in others, following as he moved onto President Street.

On President Street between Kingston and Brooklyn McKraken found an open vehicle, and hopped inside oblivious to the volunteers watching.

The volunteers closed in, waiting until McKraken stepped out of the vehicle before approaching him, keeping him on scene until the NYPD arrived.

He was arrested, and taken to the 71st Precinct for booking.

Crown Heights Shomrim thanked their volunteers on social media saying “Early AM this recidivist thief was out trying to break into cars. He was apprehended by @NYPD71Pct thanks to the #EyesAndEars of our vol’s.”
