As Boston Shliach Goes Home, Police Identify His Attacker

Rabbi Shlomo Noginsky, the Shliach in Boston Massachusetts who was stabbed Thursday afternoon outside the “Shaloah House” on Chestnut Hill Avenue has been released home from the hospital.

The good news was happily received in the Jewish community reeling from the shock of the incident.

“We are following the situation closely, and continue to make security a priority,” said Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, Chairman of the Chabad-Lubavitch educational and social services divisions. “The family of Chabad representatives worldwide are praying for Rabbi Noginski’s speedy recovery.”

As was reported on Thursday, Rabbi Noginsky had initially been outside the Shaloah House when a person approached him with a weapon, demanding that he accompany him into Rabbi Noginsky’s vehicle. Rabbi Noginsky attempted to flee his attempted kidnapper by running across the street to a park, where his assailant caught up and stabbed him multiple times in the arm and shoulder.

Rabbi Noginsky was taen to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released home Thursday night.

The Boston Police Department, who had apprehended Rabbi Noginsky’s attacker just minutes after the attack occurred, identified the assailant, giving his name as Khaled Awad, aged 24 of Brighton, Massachusetts.

He will be charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery on a police officer.
