Nuisance Burglar Arrested In Crown Heights Thanks To Alert Resident

If you see something, pull out your phone and call Shomrim while recording. It’s the best of both worlds.

A Crown Heights resident was shocked Thursday morning to see a man attempting to open car doors on Eastern Parkway, and was about to report it when the man stepped over to the car he was sitting in and tried his handle as well.

The resident jumped out of his car and immediately began filming the man while calling Crown Heights Shomrim.

The car burglar, completely oblivious to the Jewish man following behind him while filming, continued from Albany Ave to Kingston Ave on the South side of the block, trying door handles of parked vehicles.

The resident filming was suddenly spotted by the burglar who stopped trying door handles for a time, only to begin again a block later.

In total, the man entered two unsecured vehicles before attempting to hide his tracks by making his was through a building.

Alas, it was not to be, as Shomrim volunteers were waiting for him when he exited onto President Street. From there is was only a few moments before the police arrived, placing him in handcuffs and arresting him.

“Our Vol’s responded to a tip regarding a male that was on a spree gaining entry into cars and were able to facilitate an arrest by @NYPD71Pct,” Shomrim wrote on their Twitter page.
