Shots Fired On President Street, Gun Recovered By Shomrim

A gun was recovered in Crown Heights Wednesday afternoon thanks to Crown Heights Shomrim, but the shooter got away in a broad daylight shooting in Crown Heights. Thankfully no one was injured.

The incident took place around 2:20pm in the area of President Street and Troy Ave. With shocked witnesses looking on, a man wearing a black hoodie, red pants and red sneakers suddenly pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots at a building. The man took off, but not before a witness snapped a photo of the fleeing man.

As Crown Heights Shomrim and the police were called, another man noticed as the fleeing individual entered a building on Carroll Street less than two blocks away, and called Shomrim to notify them.

The Shomrim volunteers surrounded the building, watching until the police arrived. Just moments after the officers from the 71st Precinct arrived, a man wearing an identical black hoodie, red sneakers and only shorts exited the building. Despite having all the other articles of clothing that was described by the witness, one of the officers decided to just briefly stop the man, making him only uncover his face before letting him leave. Despite the Shomrim volunteers protests, the incompetent officer claimed that without more evidence that the man committed a crime they could not hold him.

Soon after, another resident of the building called Shomrim, notifying that he had found a gun behind a package in the lobby of the same building. Shomrim volunteers secured the gun for the police, and after searching the area, found the shooters discarded pants.

In just a short time, Shomrim was able to get footage of both the shooting on President Street and the shooters flight inside the Carroll Street building, proving that the man at both locations were one and the same.

Unfortunately, despite their attempts to relocate the now shorts wearing shooter, he was not able to be located.

Yet with the gun and videos in their possession, the police have begun to investigate the incident.
