Brooklyn Ambulance Crew Robbed at Gunpoint in Frightening Ambush

by CrownHeights.info

A Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center ambulance crew was robbed at gunpoint Monday night in a rare crime involving Emergency Medical Services.

The EMT crew, with the FDNY designation 38F, had been dispatched to the area of Sackman St and Belmont Ave in Brownsville, Brooklyn around 11:00pm Monday night.

The crew arrived at the provided location expecting to find a person having a breathing emergency, but instead found that the call had been a set up.

The crew was held at gunpoint as the thieves relieved them of their EMS “jump bag,” which held medical supplies, and an FDNY radio.

Such incidents, while commonplace in New York City, rarely target EMS crews, which are considered by most a sacred service.

The NYPD is presently investigating the incident.
