Two Officers Shot in Gunfight With Armed Criminal

Two NYPD officers were shot Tuesday afternoon in a gunfight with an armed criminal in Queens.

According to reports, the shooting occurred at 145-86 179th St. in Queens at approximately 12:30pm, when the officers began requesting backup.

Soon after, the officers that they had been shot, with the first backup officers advising that one officer was shot in the arm and hand, and the second officer was shot in the leg.

The suspect was also shot during the gunfire, and was declared dead by EMS on scene.

The two officers were transported by police vehicle to Jamaica Hospital, with the streets being blocked off to facilitate their transfer.
