by CrownHeights.info
A 311 call over a group of Crown Heights residents loitering in front of a building on Sterling Street and Brooklyn Ave has sparked rumors of arrests being made over social distancing violations in Crown Heights.
The incident occurred Sunday afternoon as a group friends were drinking outside their apartment building while playing loud music. A passerby called 311 on the group, over perceived social distancing violations.
When the police arrived, they found open bottles of alcohol, with one of the group even throwing a bottle to the ground and shattering it across the sidewalk.
Despite rumors that the man was arrested for social distancing violations, the 71st precinct told CrownHeights.info that the arrest was made for drinking alcohol in public and public endangerment.
The 71st precinct reminded the public today that children over the age of two are also required to wear masks while not able to socially distance.
