Jewish Woman Menaced by Mentally Disturbed Man in Crown Heights
A Jewish woman sending her child to school this morning in Crown Heights was the victim of a disturbing hate crime.
The incident occurred after she dropped her child off on the corner of Albany and Empire at 9:00am on Tuesday morning, when a black man picked up a metal garbage can and threatened to hit her while screaming “get out of my way, you [expletive] Jew.”
Police were called to the scene, and after a brief canvass with the victim, the perpetrator was positively identified and arrested for menacing as a hate crime.
According to the police department, the man has a long and current history of being emotionally disturbed.
The NYPD’s Hate Crime Unit was notified of the incident and will be investigating further.
