Mugging Turns into Vicious Beating – 2 Arrested

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — A Bochur was viciously beaten last night by two Black men in an attempted mugging. The incident took place on President Street between Brooklyn and Kingston at around 10:30pm.

The two perpetrators pulled out what appeared to be a real gun and pointed at the Bochur and demanded his money, but the Bochur, who did not speak English tried to answer them and amongst the confusion the perps began to beat him.

B”H at that time R. Moshe Rubashkin, Chairman of the Vaad Hakohol and Dovid Tamrzgui were just leaving R. Moshes house on President St. when they heard the screams of the Bochur and both of them along with two other bystanders scared them off.

Hatzalah was called for the injured Bochur and the group then began to pursue the two perps who fled up Brooklyn to Eastern Parkway then down towards Kingston all the while scream for Yidden to ‘Chaptzem’.

R. Berel Zucker who was on his way home from a wedding heard the calls for help and turned around to see the perps running right up to him, he quickly reacted and stopped one of the perps and a very large crowd immediately gathered and surrounded and held the perp.

The second perp attempted to run towards 770 but another large group came after him and turned around and began fleeing towards Lincoln Place where he was stopped and held as well.

Officers of 71st Precinct responded to this incident with large force and immediately arrested the two perps that were being held, and the witnesses of the crime were taken into the precinct to give statements.

Avrohom Leider of Ahavas Chesed told CrownHeights.info that he there making sure that the Bochur had everything he needed and his that his stay in Kings County Hospital was as pleasant as possible. He was treated for injuries he sustained to his head.

Later that night R. Moshe Rubashkin invited all those that helped the Bochur and catch the two perpetrator to his house and thank them including the witnesses, Shomrim members and those that caught them.

    They all ran right past my house screaming “call the police” and the crowd running got bigger and bigger as people joined the chase. On one hand it was amazing to see the achdus towards helping another, on the other hand it is very frightening that there are so many muggings-often ending up in the beatings. What’s gonna be?????

    Great job everyone. BH you got them. Moshe it’s time to join a gym and increase the patrols. It’s a shame the perp was able to walk away. If this would have happened in the Lameds they would have to be scraped off the sidewalk.
    BTW, why is the female cop checking if the perp is wering Tzitzis???

    baruch hashem they caught those animals. I hope with the witnesses and their apprehension those two might actually do some time, but sadly, I doubt it.

    We need more patrols but neighborhood yungeleit. Can’t we set up a neighborhood patrol like they do in the suburbs. It can be coordinated by shomirim, but I’d volunteer as well as many other guys in the shchuna would. Just drive up and down crown heights from 10pm to 2 am (or later)

    its great that this was on a block close to 770 but the problem is when its further away and so many of us are around to run after them i thing he should have got a nice few knocks on his head as he will be out by tomorrow

    Why isn’t there police in front of 770 in the last month there has been a few incidents near 770 & BH the police caught the criminals.

    when you call 911 in an emergency, just say there’s a gun involved, and, like in this case, they’ll come in the millions…

    Good work NYPD!!! if only you would do always a good job like this time our community will be safe but unfortunately most times it’s not a good job, but for now I thank you so much for coming right away & for catching the muggers.

    The police probably responded with a large force this time because of the MANY calls they must have received from residents who heard the screams of “call the police!” Shouting for help does indeed help, especially in a well populated jewish area!

    my father heard a chaptzen call so he ran with his friend and he jumped on one and his friend on the other then my father looked on the guy and saw he was a teenager so he let him go thinking it wasnt the perps but thenthey releized that they were runing away so he releized it was the perp so he ran after him and then saw a big commosion so he just stuck out his foot the perp then triped over his foot and fell so my father went away because he didnt want to be questioned……

    What about Dovid Hershkowitz??? He caught one of the guys and held him down untill the police came. Give Credit where Credit is due..

    It’s sick that a number of times when we catch these shvartzes & when the police come the shvartzes blame us for assaulting them & then the police want to arrest us, but as long as the police are there right away we will not have this problem.

    Its quite interesting how some people see what they want to see-its actually a number 55 on a DKNY Jeans sweatshirt, which gives us a clue as to why these guys were on a mugging spree: So that they can wear their tommy, DKNY and sport the most expensive cars(most likely all from stolen property)otherwise, how can they ever be considered succesful in life(especially amongst their peers)? ugh, makes me sick.

    Say, if a cop, judge, parole officer, etc. (Government) are approached by muggers they can pull out a gun, perhaps protect themselves, and scare the criminal off. We can’t. Why not? Because the government want’s us to get beaten and robbed.
    If they REALLY DIDN’T they would have TOUGH LAWS reflecting their concern for our welfare: like a father for a son he loves.
    Someone in shul said:”Oh in South Africa security personnel don’t carry guns because the criminals have guns. They have a panic button. It’s too dangerous.”
    Interesting. Sounds believable, but it’s not wise. Why? Because the victim doesn’t have to show his/her gun. Let them determine that. Give us training. Dangerous for the victim? It’s horrible enough as it is.
    I guess I’m hoping for Utopia=little or no crime.

    To clear up the confusion regarding some comments… as soon as the original 2 people heard out the call, “chaptzeim”, they chased down the perps and tackled them to the ground. The person who “let” one of the muggers away, it obviously did not go down like that. He realized that he was all alone with the 2 shvartzers, and heard yells that they have a gun… shomrim were not on the scene yet and he was alone with the teens. Fot the record, one of the chasers is not from NY and was an out of towner. Lets be careful with our wording or to give reproach to someone.. it may just be a young child who wrote the comment and was telling the truth or how it was told to him anyhow.

    In Williamsburg these two blacks would be taken away in an ambulance, with all their bones broken, not in a police car to a free room and board house.

    Calling the police is good after-the-fact. But, the ONLY way to stop these things in the future, is to make sure all blacks know that such an attempt will make them invalids for life.

    Why can’t we set up a safe zone(not a ghetto) where we patrol, and outsiders would know this is private property where one would not get away with anything. Like Seagate, I guess.

    Shalom brothers, The ABSOLUTELY LAST thing you need is more police. The answer is for every Jew to own a gun and to be capable and ready to defend ourselves at any time. We, of all people know all too well, what happens to Jews when Police have the guns and Jews do not. Do not ever think it cannot happen here. Anyone who follows the current political scene today can justify the need. Rabbi Kahane was emphatically correct in 1970 and even more so today: “Every Jew a .22.”
