Shomrim received a call from an alert resident stating that he saw a Black male running down Crown then down Albany, in what appeared to him as if fleeing from the scene of a crime. A group of Shomrim members quickly picked up the suspects trail on East New York and Albany but could not approach the suspect since there was no victim, or knowledge of any crime committed at the time.
Later at around 9:45pm police received a call for a past mugging and assault on the corner of Kingston and Carroll and a passing Shomrim member saw the police activity and enquired as to what’s going on, the member learned that this was the victim and that the person Shomrim was following actually matched the description of the perp that mugged her.
The woman complained of pain in her hand, that the perp tried to snatch her purse but she held on to it hurting her hand. Amid the scuffle the perp made off with her glasses and $200.
CrownHeights.info would like to applaud the resident who was keen enough to call Shomrim. In order for us to be effective in our fight against this crime wave that is striking our community we implore residents to no hesitate and call 911 and the Shomrim hotline at (718) 774-3333 immediately. Together we can make our neighborhood safer!

i feel that if thhe shomrim guy had a the shvartze in his site..he should have followed him until he got the green light to pick him up.
he could have gotten an address of the guy at least…
i would like to hear a shomrim reply to my comment
thank you
jewish?
was the woman jewish?
CH-86
Sholom:
I was the Shomrim member that first approached. The woman was Jewish and from the time that we first spotted the suspect to the time that we identified that there was in fact a victim it was over a half an hour, we followed the guy out past Utica and East New York, beyond the limit I was willing to risk my own life.
Money is replaceable, life is not.
It’s unfortunate that we actually had the guy but we couldn’t do anything about it, but to restrain him is illegal, what use would it be if WE got locked up? And if there is no victim what’s the point of even following the guy?
What we must learn from this story is that if you Chas Vesholom become a victim of a crime or witness one, do not hesitate to contact us, we have patrols out all hours of the night and we try our very best with the information provided to us. We are always just a phone call away.
Remember, the hotline number is (718) 774-3333 – 24/7

There are 2 way to react to a mugging: attack or flee. Jewish power is in their mouths. Try 1. Screaming loud or 2. Say some holy words out loud.
I was approached by 3 blacks near the corn. of Utica and Union a few years ago. I started to run around a car-fast runner. He was also fast. B”H I saw a Jew, shouted “Get your gun like last night” and the Blacks took off, B”H. I was scared mightly. The street light was out and the single Black chasing me was about 6′ and I couldn’t even see his face or tell if he had a weapon. These morons are basically cowards. I only wish one of them received a severe beating and then word got out on the street. Hashem please hear my words!
Any statistics? How many of these criminals are repeat offenders?
Actually, repeat offenders are a blessing to most (Except the victims) because it keeps the criminal ‘justice’ system working, gun manufacturers, prisons, doctors, dentists, undertakers, etc.
One cop told me (After I told her of a sensible, sure fire way to reduce crime–not even as severe as The 7 Noahide Laws) if there were very little crime she’d lose her job.
NYC government is transgressing on our constitutional rights: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Perhaps moving out of New York is the best choice–the government here smells more than the back end of a garbage truck in the summer. Who cares about all the other ‘good’ the government does when you can’t feel safe on the streets! And the mayor wants to be president! President of what, crime incorporated?

Someone in my family was followed (It was very evident) by a male Black. She told him to go away of she’ll spray him with pepper spray. Is this wise? He responded that he’ll grab it and hit her.
What does Shomrim think about revealing a weapon?
I once had military teargas (Illegal?) NOW your talking. Just watch out for the wind. Remember, if the government around us doesn’t do it’s utmost to protect us the Torah doesn’t mandate we have to follow certain of it’s laws. Hashem break the yoke of this ineffectual government from off our necks!

What in the world is going on??? It is only May and not warm at all. What’s going to be when the kiddies are out of public school on the streets? Open attacks on a major street (Kingston) or a few days ago in front of 770 are scary. I wonder if the cops have any leads as to whom is behind these attacks. It smells organized.

enquirer – yes – Sunshine Pharmacy has it.

Shomrim should carry cameras so they can photograph potential suspects in situations like this when they can’t restrain them.
concerned
maybe someone should invent a one touch button we can carry around , which has the shomrims # or the police
dovid s.
Last night i was walking on troy and Montgomery when three Black guys came over to me when they saw that i was suspicious of them they screamed what or you looking at and when i turned they thru a egg at me .
if you see anything suspicious call shomrim immediately we cant let them get away with this crime.
Spell Check
To the person that was correcting the spelling, BECAUSE is the correct spelling. (A before the U) and looses is with double o and not double s.
Patrol more
Crime happens everywhere even on Kingston but I still think that the police should patrol more on Albany & Troy because that is where most of the crime happens.

carry arond a laser(or a strong flashlight) if someone tries to hurt you shine it in his eyes and run away
a miserable and scared resident
Where are our community leaders who need to put their efforts into protecting our neighborhood!!!!
I guess it will have to happen to one of their wives before anything is done.
This is an outrage.. How did they let our main streets become violated? Wake up leaders and instead of fighting with each other, start taking care of our women and children!!!Do you care or will you just retire to your bungalows and forget your committment to your people!!You are all a SHAM!!!!Put your time and money where your BIG MOUTHS are!!! HELP
A NONY MOUSE
A small air pistol or paint-ball gun is perfectly legal, and you might be able to inflict more pain and suffering than by just spraying him/them with pepper spray.
P.S. Instead of using pepper spray, just get a can of REGULAR EASY OFF OVEN CLEANER, it’s a lot cheaper, VERY potent, caustic, and if sprayed in the eyes can cause permanent blindness.
LeffertsAveResident
What more can we do? I am asking as a resident of the neighborhood. Is shomrim increasing their membership – and is that the answer? Shomrim – thank you so much for the vital work you do.
time for action
i think its time to find some new community leaders. any ideas?
start the peace
People should be aware of their surroundings and don’t carry a lot of money on you, since the last few muggings they have made big money, they are all trying it now.
