Brooklyn, NY — Just a few days after we reported the assault and mugging on Lincoln Pl. between Kingston and Albany another attempt took place this past evening. A resident who lives on the block was on his way home at around 9:40pm on Tuesday night when all of a sudden he was approached by two black youths from behind who pulled his scarf off, and upon seeing the face of their would be victim the two fled.

The man immediately called 911 and Shomrim both of which responded right away, police officers from the 77th precinct took a report while numerous Shomrim members patrolled the area. According to the would be victim, he said that he thought that these perpetrators live in the building on the block or somewhere in the vicinity because he though that they had recognized him and therefore left him alone.

Attempted Mugging/Assault on Lincoln Place

Another resident of the block raised concern over a gang that hangs out on the corners of Kingston Ave. and Lincoln Pl. as well as Kingston Ave. and St. Johns Pl. he said that around a group of 10 or more are seen loitering on those corners from night fall and these two recent incident can probably be tied to them.

Another disturbing incident took place earlier on this week near the Childrens Museum on St. Marks Pl and Brooklyn Ave where a Yid was walking to the museum and was mugged for his cell phone.

There seems to be this escalating pattern of bold muggings in broad daylight and possible gang initiation related assaults. CrownHeights.info would like to urge resident to be extra vigilant on the streets and to always have the numbers for emergency services such as 911 and Shomrim’s hotline (718) 774-3333 readily available in case of an emergency C”V.

WE NEED NOT TO BE SCARED OF THEASE YOUTHS JUST GRAB THEM ANDBEAT THEM THATS THE ONLY WAY THEY WILL LEARN SINCE THEY ARE UNDER AGE NOT MUCH CAN HAPPEN TO THEM ITS CRAZY WE CANT LET 2 CHAYOS PUT FEAR IN OUR SHUCHNA

it’s important to know your neighbors. talk with them and learn names. lincoln place was always a drug related block.you’ll have problems but if the muggings continue and the cops are around the gangs won’t want that. it cuts into business. pressure the cops to increase patrols.

something has to be done about this , these chayes are trying to take over our streets and we are allowing them, they are allowed to scare us and our children, we can not allow this

the summer is coming up and our children will be out in the evenings and we dont want chas visholom something to happen to them , therefore every single person in this community must and i repeat must call the police and say they are scared for their children, and there have to be more police and when a suspect is caught he has to be punished harshly so that noone will do it again

Sounds like we need a patrol over on Lincoln. Does Shomrim have enough personnel? Can we form a (legal and orderly) citizens’ patrol? (if so I’m volunteering for this motzoei Shabbos).

i dont mean to be a critic, but,
your head lines for your news brief says, “attempted mugging”, and yehudah from the mountains said we should get to know the guys that hang out…..
i agree with yehudah so much so that you see here that they didnt want to mugg “him” being that as soon as they saw who he was they ran away and left him alone (even though you say it was a mugging, but they didnt ask for anything etc.) remember what the rebbe wrote in “hayom yom” “there will come a day when the ground will come to you and ask who were you to walk all over me” when you go in the streets think chassidus and in that merit hashem will protect you and be with you, there were those that went into yechidus (before going on shlichus) to the rebbe and the rebbe told them “when you think words of torah and chassidus in the streets i am with you, i am together with you, may we merit very quickly the returning of the rebbe phisically speedily in our days

    B“H
A few yrs. ago my daughter was walking on President St. and arrived by Albany Ave. w/a friend. Two male blacks (who they had noticed on the SE co. of President & Troy came up to them.
”Give my your money,“ one of them said, while the other stood nr. the corner. My daughter told him to go get a job. The black pushed my daughter, she gave him a kick in the right place and the 2 giborim fled.
We need more like this, no?
I have a new Texas friend. He said: ”These criminals would NEVER go down south and do this. They’re too scared. They’re get their heads crushed, etc.”
Re: Mukie: What ever happened to all the talk and publicity about video cameras?

I think it’s pathetic that people just talking about grabbing one of them and pound them, i’ll tell you alittle something, this past summer me and my friend were rollerblading down brooklyn Ave. and 10 Black youths on bikes jumped us.
We were on blades and they were on bikes we came out with no bruises or scratches but at one point i thought of that idea i turned around and started pounding the stuffings out of him!
and guess what they backed up saying sorry and fled.
if you want that i dea to work and take effect i advise you to buy a punching bag and take it all out on it for practice, and imagine that it could retaliate if it were alive, didn’t think of that, did you? i got a knife on my chest and who gives? just grab one and start pounding him?
i am almost certain that those 10 are the ten that started with me and my friend and i swear that i would be more then happy to meet them on my feet, but the whole point of this was that you know that just to grab one and start pounding him, comes with a adrenaline…

Nice picture of Lincoln Place. Far from being “always a drug related block” I’m told the former Rav of the community, Rav D’workin (A”H) used to live on Lincoln Place, as did Rebbitzin Chana (yes the Rebbe’s mother) also once live on Lincoln Place – before she lived at 1414 President Street. I’m told the Rebbe would come to Linconl Place daily visit her. Fortunately no one was badly hurt in these incidents, which are not the norm for this quiet block.

As teh summer days are aproaching we should remind children and sdults to walk in groups in teh night especially on Lincoln and other otskirts of crwon heights. IF you are driving and see someone ,or your coming from a wedding and its late at night ,Offer teh person a ride .IT is only five minutes of your time but it ensures other peoples safety .Its a mitzva two .I urge every one to watch out for thier children and friends .recenlty in Boro park thier was a CHAPTZEM the whole community and nearby yeshuiva ran after teh muggr .Help shomrim out.Wether its financially or any other time of asistance .Kol yisrael araevim zeh le zeh

i think that ‘a mother of threes’ idea was the best. if someone could get hold of both precincts phone numbers and someone to talk to then every person reading this site should call and tell them they are worried for their kids. these animals are getting more and more brazen and we have to do something today to stop them, not just sit at computers and post about how sad it is that they are doing this stuff.
