Bystanders Chase Down iPhone Thief

Today at around 6:50pm, a Jewish woman was standing on Crown St. between Kingston and Albany Ave. using her iPhone, when it was suddenly snatched out of her hands by a thief.

The woman cried out, and within seconds several Jewish men were chasing the thief down Montgomery St. toward Albany Ave.

At the corner of Albany the thief was tackled to the ground, where he was held until the police arrived.

The woman’s iPhone was returned, and the thief was taken down to the precinct for booking.

    1) it totally serves the woman right! You don’t flaunt your iPhone in public in crown heights none-the-less. To teach her a lesson the thief should have kept.

    2) the men who chased the thief and tackled him were complete idiots! Firstly that is legally considered assault and techniqually the cops could press chargers on the men. They are not policemen so by law they can be charged w/assault on the thief. Secondly the thief could have pulled out a gun and shot one or more of the men who chased him.

    1) Are you kidding my? we can’t talk on our phones?

    2)“Each state, with the exception of North Carolina, permits citizen arrests if the commission of a felony is witnessed by the arresting citizen.” About the gun comment, where do you draw the line? If someone takes a bag of groceries out of your hand can you chase him then? How about your kid?

    You should pray that these brave men are going be around if you or your loved ones need their help. And secondly this woman had every right to talk on her I phone or wear fancy jewelry without experiencing such a peti crime. And if there were more men like the ones that caught this purse snatching punk then this place would be much more suited for Moshiach.

    A few months ago, I was on the train with Eli Blachman, when someone grabbed his iPhone out of his hands and tried to leave the subway car. 5 passengers tackled the thief to the ground and the phone was returned to Eli.

    When you’re greedy, everything belongs to you. Money, money, money. That’s all they think about. Stocking up on all the available technology by taking what isn’t theirs, assaulting people. They place more value on a piece of tin than on a human life. To all the loyal supporters of criminals: Don’t give me the ‘these poor criminals are so poor- your such a racist etc etc.’ Half the people in CH can’t make ends meet and they’re not hitting people over the head, stealing other people’s belongings, slashing car tires. I don’t have a laptop, an iphone, an ipod, or a blackberry and i don’t consider relieving someone else of their belongings every time I want to upgrade. And of course there’s the great comfort in knowing that the police let him go without taking him to the station so he’ll soon be able to stock up on his next item of choice.

    You must understand, the thief did not do anything wrong, as he claimed, he only took back what was “rightfully his” from the Jewish woman. After all, the “evil rich Jews exploit and steal” from the African American community.Of course, I am only being sarcastic. The reality is that the thief got what was coming to him and then cried like a little sissy when he was caught. Oh gee, I wonder why this story is not front page news all over the country.
