CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — On Wednesday at about 8:00pm a female Crown Heights resident returned home from work, stopping at a pharmacy and grocery store on her way from the subway station. Little did she know, she was being followed through the ill lit streets by a stealthy criminal.
As she entered her home – located on Hampton Place (a small street between St. Johns and Sterling Pl.) – with her hands filled with grocery bags, she was followed inside by an African-American male in his late 20s. He knocked her to the ground, and she thought in terror that he had come to commit heinous acts of abuse.
Thankfully, he was only after her purse. He grabbed it and tried to yank it out of her hands, saying “Give it to me” repeatedly. She screamed so loud that, with the aid of the open door and quiet streets, her cries were heard for blocks around. A neighbor as far as three blocks away called the police.
Just as her neighbors began to trickle out into the street to see what the commotion was about, the perpetrator succeeded in releasing the purse from her grip, and ran off toward Brower Park before anything could be done.
Police arrived soon after and searched the surrounding area, but he was nowhere to be found. Although the perpetrator was wearing a red sweatshirt at the time of the mugging, witnesses told police investigators that they had seen a man in a white t-shirt running with a brown purse in same direction. The victim believes that the criminal took off his sweatshirt to try and throw off his pursuers – a tactic which is gaining popularity among Crown Heights criminals.
Aside from the stolen iPad, cash and several credit cards, the robbery was especially painful to her because the bag contained jewelry which was of great sentimental value. The bag contained a few of her grandmother’s rings, which she was taking to the jeweler for adjustment.
The perpetrator was described as a 6-foot-3 African-American male in his late 20s to early 30s, of medium build, with a diamond earring and short braided hair.

If we had a police officer at every corner, that’s what we’d call a POLICE STATE. Were everyone is categorized, and everything is suspicious.
On the other hand, we could buy our own little police officer that we carry with us all the time. And when something (C.V.) bad happens, TWALA! we pull out our micro policeman, which is only seconds away, while the big police are only minutes away.
We shouldn’t put our lives and security in the hands of someone we don’t know, and who doesn’t know us. Think about it, slowly. ;D

Critical of New York Judges
Why is everyone upset==is this not the norm in CrownHeights where how many persons were killed or hurt in a parade that was supposed to promote an unique cultral heritage which was to benefit the whole community in Brooklyn.
I can say there are numerous steps to take to protect yourself. One was suggested is to check your enviornment around you at all times and if you are being followed look for anaother person or a store. You can carry a whistle which is so easy to use and very loud. You can obtain a hand held special forces miniture flashlight that can blind someone in the night for a few seconds and can be used as a weapon. for seniors there is the walking stick which is a fighting cane–but you need training in its usage. of course, the old time favorites, pepper spray aka mace.
If you obtain these, then you have to have your mindset to use them to fullest ability upon the criminal even though you might harm the criminal, cripple them or worse to the bad guy.
