Wheel Theft of the Week: President and Kingston
A brand new Honda Accord belonging to a member of Anash, which was parked on President Street between Kingston and Albany Avenues, was the latest victim of the mysterious wheel thieves who have been operating with impunity and devastating vehicle owners all over Crown Heights over the last couple of years.
The theft occurred in middle of the night on Motzei Shabbos. The wheels were hurriedly removed and the car left resting on crude cinder-blocks. The wheels, worth hundreds of dollars each, will be sold on the black market for a hefty profit.
These brazen thefts have been occurring on a regular basis and will continue until the thieves are caught. The targeted cars have been mostly new and in the upper range, particularly newer-model Hondas, though some older and cheaper vehicles have fallen victim as well.
In the meantime, be sure to protect your vehicle in as many ways as possible so you do not become a victim. Anti-theft lug nuts and car tilt alarms are two examples of relatively simple safety measures that can be added to a vehicle.
Remember, even if an added security measure isn’t 100% foolproof, it will still likely deter thieves from targeting your car and cause them to move on to an easier target.
cameras
we need cameras in all CH streets 24/7
so nice of them
its so nice that they place the cars on bricks after they take the wheels, its a nice gesture
video cameras!
When will the crown heights community wake up and realize that video cameras everywhere are vital. In catching and deterring these ‘innocent’ criminals.

Make a law to ask for SELLER ID
If it was a law that require seller ID( or few IDs) then the buyer ( scrap yard ) wasn’t buy the tires/other stuff so easily ….theyare not going far with it , why police didn’t search all local scrap yards /tire shops ?
