  This man was my family and always smiling and jovial. Sad to know that he is gone and my family in GEO is mourning right now.   This happened across the way from a public library full of kids, a stone’s throw from the subway station and along a public bus route. There is a church right there, and other community and religious centers a stone’s throw away. On another day, people would be lined up in the very same place on the street to receive food from the church pantry.
  Is life so cheap that people will say, “oh, that’s Brooklyn for ya?” Are people so jaded and self involved? Next time it could be your kid, your mom, your husband, your cousin.
  The whole community is suffering because of this. ALL of us. All ages, races, faiths, we all lose when this happens.
