Passerby Prevents Mugging, Mugger Apprehended

A passerby driving down Carroll Street witnessed the attempted mugging of a young Jewish girl and sprung into action, preventing the crime and apprehending the mugger – a 13-year-old. Police are asking for the victim to come forward.

The incident occurred at around 3:00pm on Carroll Street between Kingston and Albany Avenue, the witness was driving by when he observed a sizeable group of black pre-teens surrounding a girl and one of them was struggling to grab an iPhone out of her hands.

He jumped out of his car and shouted at the group, all of whom began fleeing, leaving behind the phone and a scared victim.

The witness then chased after the would-be mugger, who fled into a nearby alleyway, where he was stopped. A large group formed and held the mugger until police arrived.

While waiting for the police friends of the would-be mugger attempted to wrestle him free and flee, while other rabble-rousers tried to turn it into a racial incident, but by then police arrived and took the kid, who is 13-years-old into custody.
