Two Cars Burglarized
Last week on Thursday night, Nov. 6th a Honda Accord parked on Crown St. between Kingston and Brooklyn was broken into and burglarized, the thief made off with the cars 2 airbags and did not take anything else from the car. A yid that was passing by saw the perp and called the police, but they did not apprehend the thief. The owner of the vehicle later followed up with the police and made sure a report had been filed.
Then yesterday another car had been broken into and burglarized over night. The car, also a Honda Accord, was parked on Montgomery St. between Brooklyn and Kingston had been broken into and its airbags and navigation system removed, again with nothing else taken.
More in the Extended Article.
There seems to be this new pattern in what was not an uncommon occurrence with incidents like Xenon headlights were stolen out of cars as well as Navigation systems and Airbags. The Honda Accord is a popular car in the neighborhood and now that we have a ‘new’ and ‘improved’ car thief preying on our cars. Residents need to keep an extra and more vigilant lookout for such perps. The cost to replace these items runs much higher then just a new piece of glass.
The absurdity is that a pair of Xenon headlights cost as an option from the car manufacturer upwards of $800, and when stolen they get peddled on the street to various body shops and the thief gets off with $100 at the most for the items. Same goes for Navigation systems and Airbags.
So if you see someone looking into cars or walking slowly around with no apparent destination or goal, no matter what time at night we urge you to please call and notify Shomrim at (718) 774-3333 24/7.

It might be Derrick (not Lemerick, YM”S) Nelson (YM“S), who the ”authorities” sent to Riker’s Island for 90 days. Perhaps he got a better education than he had before and some friends?
Well, he might be back vandalizing and robbing your vehicles.
Wonderful country!

I drive a Honda Accord and a few years ago my air bags were also stolen. The theif broke into the car by breaking the small back window similarly to these cars. I guess this guy is back on the streets.

Just a thought, because I read on another site that security measures in NYC now include warnings about women jihadists that fake being pregnant (but are concealing explosives). This was not a specific warning they received, but as a general warning because of the increase of women jihadists.
Could these air bags be used in such a situation?
Can the navigation equip be used in bomb making?

There aren’t supposed to be ANY “incidents” occuring in the neiborhood such as muggings, shootings, punch-ups and the like. the fact that you are displaying your exuberance over the fact that no incidents as such having occured is disheartening.
Get Real, Crime Happens
“To ‘Realist’ “
You do have a point, but there is no reason to bash out at another individual who posted a comment unlike your opinion. It’s not like he wrote an article making a grand inaccurate statement.
It may be true that there is nothing to rejoice about since all this junk should not have to be here in the first place. I always wondered what is so special about Tu B’av, nothing special happened except for the removal of problems, like, the roadblock to Jerusalem was removed, permission to burry the dead of Beitar, etc, so the problems stopped, but there should not be a problem to begin with, so why the simcha?
But he’s got a point too. When a kid who is a chronic problem for once behaves, even if it were for just one day, he deserves to be complemented. And the complement could be sincere as well. And even if it’s sarcastic, so what, I think it’s pretty good for them animals for trying!
If you were to be ‘real’, then you’d by now have figured out that so long that the grass is green crime happens, and it will be that way until Moshiach comes.

Stealing items from an auto is not burglary. It’s only a burglary if it is a commercial vehicle. Stealing the airbags, stereo, etc. is considered larceny (grand or petit based on value). It could also be considered auto stripping and criminal mischief but certainly not burglary.
