Last week, Monday night at around 12:00am a Jewish resident of the community was driving on his way home, when he stopped for the traffic light at the intersection of Montgomery and Albany a black male pulled up alongside him and an angry exchange began.

At one point the Black driver got out of his vehicle and attempted to assault the Jewish driver while cursing at him “you ****ing Jew”, the man in his mid 30’s fended off his attacker and sped away. One block later at the intersection of Montgomery and Troy the Jewish driver spotted a police officer and stopped him and told him what had just happened.

Road Rage and Racial Slurs on Montgomery Street

Last week, Monday night at around 12:00am a Jewish resident of the community was driving on his way home, when he stopped for the traffic light at the intersection of Montgomery and Albany a black male pulled up alongside him and an angry exchange began.

One block later at the intersection of Montgomery and Troy the Jewish driver spotted a police officer and stopped him and told him what had just happened.

A police van did a quick canvass of the area which didn’t turn up the other driver. The van returned a filed a police report in which the slur was classified as part of a road rage incident and not as a separate bias incident.

Here was a NYPD officer when he was needed. Unfortunately they cannot be everywhere all the time, but we should be thankful. People often expect too much from the NYPD, this time yasher koach.

That’s crazy, it’s not road rage late at night at a stop light, it’s was race motivated, why don’t they classify it this way? If the guy had said "hey homo" it would have registered as a hate crime, go figure.

    sarcasm on

Hate crime is defined by the New York legislature as any crime, real or imagined, committed against or claimed to be committed against those who are perceived as disadvantaged due to their darker skin tone. When the reverse is the case, the offense is classified as no more than a class D misdemeanor even if it entails assault with a deadly weapon.

Exchange? Exchange? The only time an exchange happens is when someone answers back. Not to justify what happened, but next time, keep your window rolled up and ignore the monkeys. Oh….and keep shomrim on your speed dial. They’ll be happy to come help, without you putting yourself in danger

My definition of a hate crime? When a group of Jewish teens “supposedly” attack a poor, defenseless Muslim man in Flatbush slobbering over ice cream.

When a shvartze kills a Jew, that’s OK. That’s not a hate crime.

    Nothing new here.
