Bochur Hospitalized After Going ‘Streaking’

Cell phone photo taken by a reader.

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — It took more than ten people to tackle and restrain a crazed Bochur who went for a run in the nude on the streets of Crown Heights. Hatzalah took him to a local hospital where he was admitted to the psyche ward.

The incident began on Albany Avenue where he ran past stores, then turned onto Eastern Parkway and ran towards 770. A crowd of people began forming and they chased him in attempt to stop him. After running past 770 then back towards Albany he was finally subdued.

Once in Hatzalah care the Bochur calmed down and allowed the EMT’s to treat him and take him into the hospital.

  • Huh?

Some things are not meant to be said publicly in order to sell magazines! I did not expect such a thing, in the tone reported, on a respected chasidishe website!

  • Yossi Brackman

I am disgusted that you posted this story. Does this bochur really need everyone talking about it????
It’s bad enough that those that saw know about it.
    This is absolute rechilus.

  • A conern Jew

why do you feel need to post such news.

I am sure this bochur has parents and family who were mortified on what happened. And yes it’s impossible to control a mentally ill child

  • Sholom Dovber

Why is it necessary to publicize such a sad situation.
    Who does it help.
A greater degree of sympathy is needed.
    Please rethink your editorial approach.

  • Refuah Shelaima

I saw him and we can never know what Tzurus he is going through! He should have a Refuah Shelaima!

  • Whats the big deal?

My out of town guest, a teenage girl, saw him. And I mean she SAW him. She was besides herself!

Me??? I am so immune to all the crazy people here that I didn’t bat an eyelid when she told me.

Maybe I would have if I’d seen him too! LOL!!

  • Mendy the mohel

This is what happens when pranksters steal your clothing at the mikve.

  • LA Morah

it’s sad, coarse and a true lack of ahavas yisroel to make jokes at this sick person’s expense.he should have a refuah shalaimah.

  • Andrea Schonberger

This is really sad. Thank G-d that he or the concerned people trying to subdue him weren’t hit by a car. A good doctor is in order for this young man.

  • Not for anyone to know

This is hilarious, its not sad or bad news, its great. More power to you baby!!!

  • Svetlana

He probably had a good ecstasy pill,
Im sure most of you who wrote on here can use one..
This is life, why keep things inside and hushed away… its a bad habit. relax and go get yourself a pill or too

  • why embarrass someone

poor guy what is the world coming to to embarrass the poor boy also funny people they are not bothered to go round half naked the women no tights etc aso men with shirts wide open but when someone is not well mentally you have embaress him and his family why is this news

  • take a deep breath

i think we have a right to know what is going on in our own community…there is nothing wrong with putting this story up. besides,do you really think people wouldnt find out if this wasnt put up? he was running down eastern parkway on erev shabbos, for g-d’s sake. finding out from the other 50 people that actually witnessed it, and passing on to others, would be like broken telephone, and the whole story would probably blow to who knows what.besides for that, no names are mentioned.so please, i suggest saving your energy and complaints for some real issues which are not lacking all around us.

  • Get out of here...!

to # 30: a woman with no tights is half naked? really? wow…

  • REFOCUS!!!

I personally know his family and i find it appalling that the editorial is not ashamed to post this story at the expense of his own, his family’s and his friend’s humiliation. I think that everyone should refocus their efforts to saying tehillim and doing somehting constructive over spreading loshon harah and shame.

  • appalled

What is appalling is not the news but the response here.To post jokes about mental illness shows an incredble lack of sensitivity and obvious ignorance.Would you make jokes about a cancer victim or someone in a coma? But u think it is funny that someone has a “breakdown”? These are frum people here?Repulsive !!

  • melly

Its so hard to remember what happened, thank you CrownHeights.info for giving me the details of my day, boy what a farby! After getting high on yechi we decided to go back to before eitz hadas! We saw how yechi is right!

  • Refuah Shileima

Refuah Sh’leima to him and to all of you who think that this is funny. Learn a bit about health and then you will hopefully be more sensitive to such an episode… and I would politely ask the editor to remove such an article. Once the boy is helped and in a healthier state of mind, he would not want to read about this online. Also, he has a family- live and let live.

  • completely inappropriate

to report and discuss another’s unfortunate situation. Anyone enjoying this needs a serious look at their own stability and morality.

  • be fare and know your role

You know, with my apologies to all the Lubavitchers here, maybe you should think of Rebbe Nachman’s story in reverse, you know, the one where the wise man goes under the table to see the prince who thinks he’s a turkey and is always naked? (he eventually gets him to put his clothes on). Maybe this person was fed up with being a human being. In all fairness we don’t know what was going on in his mind, maybe it was a prank, a dare, an artistic or political statement of some kind. Maybe he couldn’t take the world as it is any longer and needed to break rank. I truly wonder if anyone will talk to him with compassion and sympathy and try to understand why he felt he needed to do this, to try to help him understand the ramifications of his actions, and to try to help him gain insight into himself and achieve harmony with the world around him. Please remember (and I come for outside your community although I am a Jew) that much of life is “situational” what is appropriate and accepted in one place, because of human mores may be seen as aberrant in another so before you are quick to condemn maybe you need to examine your own assumptions about life, why you consider nudity taboo (after all, Adam and Chava were created naked)* etc. Then try to understand why the norms of your community finds this unacceptable and try to LEARN from this man why he felt he need de to act the way he did.

    * ps I know about Adam being covered with a nail-like substance etc but all things considered it says in the Tanach that Adam and Eve were naked and they were not ashamed.

this bochur could have been any of us- im sure he had friends, has family, has goals and aspirations. There are things that happen that make people “crack” and instead of ridiculing this young man, try to be compassionate abt it and educate yourself on mental wellness. a nervous breakdown can cause such behavior – and a nervous breakdown is a biological\physical issue, an illness the same as any other, yet consequences are diff.. be sensitive.

I was in Miami, once upon a time, and took a dip in the ocean one Friday afternoon in lieu of going to the mikvah. Lo and behold when I realized, as I was getting ready to exit that all my clothes were gone. Can’t say the what happened afterwards, not on a public forum, sorry.

  • It may have been in bad taste

to post the story. However, now that we know that Hatzalah is there for the mentally unwell people as well, it is time to give them more support. Way to go Hatzala of CH!

  • Naked E

If this bochur nebach had a history of mental illness, then he should have been under supervisory care and not let alone to wander the streets.

However, people do sometimes crack on a one-shot basis and return to normal as if nothing happened, and others sadly crack out of nowhere and it is the first sign of biologically based mental illness R“L.

And if he really was doing ”E”, let him enjoy six months or so naked in the can.

  • All yidden are brothers

I myself have previously been unwell mentally and bh now am back to former self.
To all those people who are writing all these moronic comments I would suggest you to think and ask yourself this question: “If it was your brother what would your reaction be then”?

(And if your response is it would never happen to my brother, while i certainly wish no bad to anyone ‘never say never’.)

All yidden are brothers, and our attitude should be such as it would be to our brother.

  • maybe i should have joined...?

i witnessed this and it looked like he was having a great time so whats the big deal? its normal in europe ;)

  • to 30#

Well if not wearing tights is considered ‘half naked’ than i guess we should just trash all the other mitzvos woman keep… honestly, you really need to keep an open mind if you wanna survive in this century, not wearing tights is not such a BIG deal! in todays day in age there are a lot worse things people could do..i.e. run down the street err… shirtless? if it was a woman, believe me it would have been a HUGE scandal…
