Woman’s Purse Snatched – Police Never Show Up

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — A brazen pedaling thief made off with a Jewish woman’s purse as she was walking on Kingston Avenue doing her Shabbos shopping. When police were called, they simply never showed up.

The incident took place on Kingston between Montgomery and Empire at around 12:15 this afternoon. The thief came up from behind and snatched her purse from her hands as he sped past.

The woman did not lose her wits and quickly called police and Shomrim; a search for the snatcher was unsuccessful.

The thief was described as a black man in his 20s wearing a black baseball cap, black jacket, and riding a dark colored bicycle.

Shomrim waited with the victim for almost an hour for police to respond and take a report. Ultimately, Shomrim took the victim to the 71st Precinct and made the report there.

i think you should make 2 reportts 1 of the robbery and 2 that the police never showed up

It pays to get all of the facts before filing a report.

isnt there a civillian complaint place to file a complaint about such things?

Probably part of that “very professional” crime ring that has been targeting the air bags. Apparently, according to the police reports, this crime ring is very sophisticated and professional and therefore very hard to catch (this is according to news reports)

Makes me wonder if they are really so sophisticated, or does the complications in catching them have something to do with the cops just not showing up….

  • THAT explains it!!!!

Now I know why Chanina was searching the ground at the corner of President & Kingston by Raskin’s (he was actually in the road!) 20 mins ago. He was looking for the lady’s purse. And there was I, telling my daughter he musta dropped a dime. I bad.

I ask Mechila, Chanina, I should have realized you would be so upset the cops never showed up to help a Yiddishe woman (yeah, I know it wasn’t YOUR wife) you would rush to try to find the purse yourself.

I’m not embarrassed at all. I am ASHAMED that we have people like Chanina Sperlin making nice with the cops and rushing to have photo ops with important people and show off his fancy house with all the glitz when Jews are unprotected and are getting hurt. if it wasn’t for Shomrim we’d really be in danger.

if you’re one of Chanina’s buddies maybe you should let him know how ordinary people feel.

I think we would all benefit from not calling anyone any names. “al tadin es chavercha ad shetigiya limkomo”
And we need Moshiach now! As we can see even police are corrupt. And since the second Beis Hamikdash was destroyed from a lack of Ahavas Yisroel, it’s obvious that something that would very well compensate for that would be an increase in that very Mitzvah.
A very Gut Voch and Moshiach NOW!

On Friday approx. 11:15 a man with very similar profile grabbed my upper arm as he cycled right by me in front of Beis Chaya Mushka. We called Shmira right away and by 12:10 the police drove me to see a suspect and identify him.. They seemed disappointed that I couldn’t 100% be sure that it was the same guy. This must be connected to what happened to the actually mugged lady. Maybe my suspect was let free and then mugged her or else the guy who “attacked” me mugged her while I was identifying the “wrong” suspect.
