Lubavitcher Jumped by 4 Thugs, Apprehends 1

BROOKLYN [CHI] — A Lubavitcher Bochur was jumped by a group of 4 teenage thugs who attacked and tried to rob him this afternoon. The incident took place near Williamsburg, and ended with the arrest of one of the perpetrators.

The incident happened on Flushing Avenue today, Thursday at around 5:00pm in the vicinity of the Brooklyn Navy Yards where the Bochur was walking, and noticed the group. He immediately suspect that they would try to rob him, so he closed his pockets and prepared to call 911.

One of the group, a black 16 year old boy, crossed the street and walked past the Bochur and suddenly attempted to snatch his cell phone but managed to fend him off, the mugger then attempted to push his hand into the Bochurs pocket and then fled.

The Bochur called 911 and began chasing the teenager down, all while telling the 911 operator which streets they were crossing, and after a short chase a swarm of police officers from the 88th Precinct grabbed the mugger and promptly arrested him. The teen was charged with attempted robbery and assault.

    The bochur was zoicheh to be a shliach to get into the judicial system a brazen criminal. Hashem chose him because of his bravery under duress. Yashar koiach, young man. And thanks to the NYPD 88th who care about doing good. Thanks to all for removing this scum from the streets where my daughter has to walk. The bochur should press charges & ALSO sue this cretin for psychological, emotional pain & suffering. Go after this creep who’s served notice on society that he wants to attack people, in broad daylight, yet. I believe that in NY City this scum may be tried as an adult. I suppose he’s untouchable in civil court for damages, although I’m not an attorney & don’t know, but surely this bochur will at least press charges if that is necessary. If he declined to do so, he may still file a complaint for some time following the attack. Good luck with everything.

    This is not the first time that a Lubav was attacked in a precinct other than the 71st, and received such overwhelming, effective, and responsive action on the part of the police. Kudos to the officers of the 88th!!!

    BH the bochur is not hurt and the perp is arrested. Make sure you press charges and go all the way. Lucky for the bochur it did not happen in the area of seven-one because then the bachur would have been arrested for disturbing the cops during the donuts break.

    Actually Captain DiPaolo is the CO of the 84th Precinct, which is one precinct over, and yes he is a gem of an officer, and its a shame that we lost him. I hear that major and petty crime is down in his precinct.

    I hope to see him back in the 71 someday as our CO.
