Two mobile command posts have been set up one on Schenectady between Carroll and Crown and the other on the corner of Crown and Albany, officers posted on many street corners and officers walking up and down Kingston Ave. by day as well as the night.

We implore the 71st precinct to keep these officers out there till at least 5am each morning, as many of the posts are abandoned around 3am. These are good crime prevention measures, lets keep them up!

Still we urge residents to take extra care when out there, stay alert if you hear or see something don’t hesitate to call Shomrim at (718) 774-3333 and 911.

It seems to me that police officers standing alone, or in pairs are much less effective than when they’re mobile. Perhaps they should go from corner to corner in a random pattern.
Isn’t it better to have uniformed officers rather than undercover? Doesn’t a uniform act as: "An eye that sees…"
If a perp is arrested by an undercover cop, do the other criminals know this? If not, it looses it’s effectiveness.
A young man (who lives next in the next building) told me that one day (about 2 months ago) his sister exited the Utica Avenue Subway, headed south on Utica, turned right (going towards Schenectady Avenue) and saw a group of Black males engaged in a drug transaction. As she tried to pass, one of them stopped her and asked: "Are you a cop?" She replied in the negative. He put a gun (it appeared to be) in her back, accompanied her to her (brother’s) apartment house (going east towards Schenectady Ave.) she buzzed herself in, and he left.
Get rid of drugs with tough laws, tough punishment, and tough judges. Tell the authorities to be "real Americans" (as it was meant to be) not fake. If not, eliminate or change The Pledge of Allegiance.
I measure America, NOT against other countries, I measure America against WHAT IT CLAIMS TO BE.
One grandmother of one of the recent brutal attacks said to me: "How can you be so critical of America, it’s so much better than many other places."
She’s not thinking clearly. If you think that way, things won’t improve. And if other countries were to get worse, America would look like Paradise. It’s closer to Hell than Heaven.
She also has the sheepish "galus" mentality: "bow down to the goyim," even if they claim to own a land of "One nation under G-d (big 3-letter word), indivisible, with liberty and justice for all (not soome)!"

I live on Carrol and Troy and last night I was walking home about 1:00 am and I saw a lone uniformed police officer standing on my corner.

Whether or not uniformed police or undercover police are better suited to catch the perps is an issue , but seeing this one policeman on my corner accomplished something amazing for me, it made me feel safe !

The police department is far from perfect , and so are we , but I am thankful that they are trying to do something to make us feel safer.

Granted , I would like to see a much larger police presence , but one officer is better than none.

  • IS THIS REALLY HELPING THE ISSUE?

I guess the rally really did something but if it is an empty truck what does it do?!?!? yes, criminals could be scared to do anythang in the area but as soon as they realize there is no one in there they are gonna do whatever the hell they want to do….. also if there reslly is something taking place like it so often does, who will be there to protect the people?!?!? bye the way to Baruch N. Hoffinger–America’s government does an amazing in the court systems- it is just the cops on the streets that dont do anythang

  • Re; Mendy W.

thatz always good….. there needz to be more police officers and patrol cars but u gotta walk before you can run- taking small steps is a good way upward for now letz hope that nothing else happens…..peace.
