All Four Tires Stolen off a Brand New Car

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — It was a sight reminiscent of decades past, stripped down cars lay waste on the city street, car stereos stolen in hourly occurrences, as well as the sight of cars missing their wheels and sitting atop four bricks. This is what greeted the proud owner of a brand new Infinity sports coupe on Friday morning, his car without wheels.

The car was so new; that it still had its dealer issued temporary plates affixed to the car.

The incident took place sometime during Thursday night, while parked on East New York Avenue near New York Avenue, just four blocks for the 71st Precinct.

The value of each rim and tire is estimated at over $1000.

Just like the club can be used to protect cars from theft, and airbag theft, there is a special lock called wheel locks which can be purchased for around $40 and they will protect your rims.

A police report was filed.

    Shalom alechem,

Gam zu le Toydoh. The large amount of Tzedakah the owner gives to the local Beis medresh will help resolve this situation. Remember Bitahon and emunah….always.

Where are the police? How can such criminal activity take place right under their noses? AD MOSAI!

An expensive lesson to be learned – don’t skimp on the security considerations — Especially within this pathetic Precint !!!
It’s beginning to look and sound alot like
Fort Apache — The South Bronx
The thieves could have done this and be gone within 30 seconds or so..functioning as an efficient pit crew…
The ususal street patrol would not have a clue as to what was doing …

I am sorry, but I laughed so hard when I read this headline. This neighborhood has gotten so sad it’s funny. (If I didn’t laugh I would cry.) What is with CH the last few weeks? It has gone crazy. Every few hours I check CH.info for the news and every single time some new insane crime has happened.

if only the car had an expired registration tag, maybe then while the cops were giving it a ticket, they might have prevented this theft.

  • Sad but true

This why most of us drive around in beat up wagons and mini vans with old tires.

It’s sad but these are the times we live in you have to keep a low profile and present an undersirable target. It’s a shame but that’s the way it is.

  • and soooo

so whats your point? it was four blocks from the 71pct
i got robbed in Miami last year, how many blocks from the 71pct was that

    From the proud car owner:

There is the need to be positive about this. At least the thieves left the car… Imagine if in the morning I would find only the wheels.

It’s important to note that the police took over 1 hour to come and write the report, while they are much quicker to catch the smallest of infarctions to write a nice fat ticket.

Most importantly, in Florida (where this cool car will go as soon as it gets new wheels) residents without a criminal background can hold a concealed weapons permit, which of course would not have been used in a case of “borrowed” wheels, but in general keeps the community safer when criminals know that citizens walk around protected.

All the police will do in any case is show up late, write a report and take pictures of the crime…

May Hashem bless CH and it’s residents, sheychiu, because New York law will not.

Lastly, to all who think the car looks funny, don’t feel guilty, it’s good to smile.

  • hahaha

I have the same picture also on a n infinity on prospect park west during the summer with all four wheels taken. Quite a sight.
    (also had dealer plates)

  • to the owner.

what an emotionally healthy person you are!
You come across as a positive upbeat, knowledgeble and practical guy.
    Hatzlacha with everything!

  • I-m sorry

am sorry what happend. it must be frusterated that the police took so long to come. they must have been busy writing a ticket to a minor riding a bike on the side walk

  • to #17

You forgot good looking, and humble, but it’s ok.

I think the article forgot to mention that the owner is still single. So in the market for new wheels, and why not… a wife.

  • no end to crime

i saw the car as i was going to school in da morning. i was wondering about it… :)

  • Everything is relative

“what an emotionally healthy person you are!”

If I was going to Florida I would also be “emotionally healthy” :)

  • elisha

    stop beating on the police!
IN Truth only g-d has eyes everywhere all days at all moments
we must hope that the owner receives recompensation

    but think about it
i know this might be totally odd to say but in other cities in the united states there is something called neighborhood watch

remember people brooklyn is some of the busiest neighborhoods in the nation

thanks for letting me express my opinion

  • this guy

IS THE NICEST GUY EVER and seriously deserves only the best. I know him personally-such a mentch! Your positivity has made my day brighter

  • SeriouslySilly

To the owner: same thing happened to me in beautiful sunny LA but I had an Accord.. BTW was looking for a handsome single Mentch, but, also had to have a set of hot wheels… Shucks!!! J/k Hatzlocha

  • tipshim

What would really be funny, when they start stealing your Windows from your house. Than they will start stealing your doors. Than the bricks would be next. Imagine waking up in the morning and you find yourself sleeping in your bed outside, with the walls, and windows, and doors gone. Guess what at the rate we are going, it is gonna happen..!!! Now that’s something to laugh about.

  • Uncle

Unfortunate that it happened to you. But you have such a positive attitude it dwarfs the thieves. By the way, it is done much better if you put bricks under the car, loosen the wheels, then take the air off….. the car looks straight and there is no damage to the body (which is an extra expense). Anyway, enjoy the car, may this be the worse thing that ever happens to you!!

  • Wow

Ok I laughed so hard when I saw this then I started laughing harder at how sad it is. To the proud car owner may u be proud again soon to see ur car in good “health” and u really are positive and quite funny too. I’m sorry this happened to u and good luck with that police report ;)

  • to number 30

if you feel like being really nice and honest maybe you can find that guy and report him to the poilce and get your money back and give the tires back…
    just sayin..
