Police Lose Gun Toting Suspect After Chase, Crash
CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — Police lost a gun toting car thief after a vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash. The chase ended on Carroll off Troy after the suspect crashed and disabled his vehicle, a brief foot chase ensued, and police eventually lost him.
The incident began at around 12:15pm with the chase, and ended with police calling on a helicopter, a K9 unit, and ESU all to no avail. The suspect fled into 1580 President Street, and there police lost him.
According to a police source at the scene the suspect had a firearm on him.
This incident follows two recent shootings on Utica Avenue just a few blocks away in which 1 person was killed and 3 were wounded after being shot, punctuating a sharp rise in gun related violence in our neighborhood.
