Brazen Daytime Robbery, While Family was Home!
The burglar, captured on surveillance, leaving the home.
CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A brazen burglar walked into a Crown Heights home this afternoon and made off with about 10 winter coats. The incident took place at around 12:15pm while there were people in the house.
A woman was home at the time of the burglary with a friend, and she told CrownHeights.info that she thought she had heard someone coming in, but was not sure and didn’t make anything of it until a few minutes later when she was leaving and noticed the missing outerwear.
According to the homeowner they are not careful with keeping the doors locked while they are home.
Shomrim and Police were called and a report was filed.

Good thing they have a camera hidden in the wall of their front lobby, in case someone just walks in to steal their coats.
I think every front lobby in Crown Heights now should be equipped with electrified barbed wire and a pack of Dobermans. We should cower in fear behind our barbed-wire front doors and when we leave our homes, we should do so with 10 armed guards surrounding us.
Whatever we do, we should continue sensationalizing and whipping up fear by only posting negative news items that make Crown Heights seem that it’s under 24-hour siege by zombies. And above all, let us never post anything even remotely positive. Who would read us otherwise?
As a matter of fact, a new slogan for this website here should be: “All Crime, All The Time.”
[Psst: Don’t sensationalize!]

Mendy, I am actually embarrassed of the idiocy you displayed in your comment. I must ask, is it you who sees everything in a negative eye? Is it simply that you choose to see everything as bleak and sad as your comment sounds?
Let us take a moment and look at yesterday’s news stories and see how many of them are of the negative and so-called ‘scary nature’:
3 lechaims, a story about Israel freezing construction, an Op-Ed thanking CH’ers for saying tehilim for a families sick daughter, a school doing a CPR course, a hilarious video of Fried and Schmeltzer fooling around in the studio, a massive siyum horamvbam, a highschool graduation trip (in april), AND a burglary.
Yes, CHI is a scary website that editorializes and sensationalizes every chance it gets, just look at that list above, it sticks of it! There is no happiness and communal pride in that roster, none at all. Right?
Fact is that the abovementioned family was the victim of a scary crime, thanks to their own stupidity, but they sort-of made up for that by submitting the photos and getting CHI to post the story, AS A WARNING to others. There was little to the story, not even details as to where it took place! Just cold hard facts supported by some camera footage.
I think that people need to be made aware of crime. Education brings to better protection.
Now if you want to go stick you head in the sand maybe you should stick to watching Uncle Moishy and the Mitzvah Men with your children, if you have any. (no disrespect to Uncle Moishy, I love watching him as often as I can.

Agreed with Yosi. Then we complain when not all crimes are reported/recorded in the precinct. Why not know there was another burglary? If that’s the news in Crown Heights, then so be it. Unfortunately, that IS the neighborhood we live in. The site IS called CROWNHEIGHTS.INFO. and we have to be scared, very scared. ok, that was a joke but it still is a dangerous neighborhood.

i like the snoop dog comment lol
CHANGE THE LOCKS1
I don’t think it was the coats he was after. He probably assumed he would find house keys or car key in the pockets. If the family envolved left any important keys in those coat pockets, CHANGE THE LOCKS!
i forgot
how did they get the picture????
and did they chatch him??????????????
derech
to yossi berkowitz
your message is nearly useless, as its just too hefker to use the word idiocy. doesnt anyone remember that we’re here for the Rebbe? If the Rebbe would read this, would you want him seeing such words? Maybe you’re just comfortable but I think its beneath our dignity to get so lax in our dibbur.

we need to feel sorry for the poor man who had to resort what was assuredly a painful and humiliating experience as he had to risk getting caught while taking some uneeded coats (hey they had 10) from better situated white jewish folks. let’s try and find him and better his life. anyone with extra clothing, please let’s gather them up so we can help this man so he doesn’t have to struggle like this. he didn’t hurt anyone, did he?

y would we want to help a thief .if the guy need money let him ask for it.don’t go stealing!!!!
concering changing house locks.
concerning changing the locks:
the cheapest way to do that is change your lock with some one else who lives in a differant street and but dont forget to exgange the set of keys. this way if the thief does try to get into your apartment he can not.
