NYPD Busts Alleged Drug Sellers at Retail Stores
Some stores on Nostrand Avenue in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, don’t only offer up food, music and clothes; you can even get your drug fix, according to police. That is, until Today, Tuesday.
The NYPD made a sweep of the neighborhood, putting an end to the drug dealing at six different businesses, police said. Cops busted variety stores, a music store, and three take-out restaurants.
“You could go in and get the drugs in the food or perhaps go in the back of the store and pick it up,” said Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.
Kelly said the buys were pre-arranged by phone and that about 400 drug deals were made each week in these businesses, where mostly marijuana was sold. In the past two months, undercover cops made close to 60 buys, the NYPD said.
And it was well-known in the area where the alleged deals were going down..
“It was an open drug bazaar on Nostrand Avenue,” said Council Member Letitia James. “A significant number of residents said it has to come to an end.”
One of them was Debra Griffin-Daza, who manages the Starlight Lounge.
“Most of the time the kids are in fear,” Griffin-Daza said. “You go into the stores, there’s drug transactions going on in the stores.”
Police arrested eight people, including store employees and some owners. More arrests are expected. Commissioner Kelly said authorities are in the process of shutting down the stores.
Cecil Henry, a pastor at Calvary Community Church, said it is a step in the right direction.
“We meet once a month as clergy praying that this… would happen,” Pastor Henry said, “and surely this is an answer to our prayers.”

in 456 Brooklyn Ave there is a nice ‘take-out’ available. A fresh batch was made yesterday-the scent travels to signal when the supply becomes available. As long as nobody is killed, cops don’t care if some people deal privately…

SO,
so if theres alot more, then let them finally get busy with them. they don’t seem to be able to protect each other, so let the police help them, and it will help everyone.
and to anon:
it is important to bring that drug thing up with the bochurim, because I believe that someone has to do more to keep these boys busy. We know this is New York, we have to do something. Know your territory and deal with it according to the issues

Legalize pot. Save huge sums on enforcement, redirect that $ to drug education and family skills training & counseling from an early age, thus eliminating the criminal element. All of this makes too much sense to be carried through though.
