
Police Make Arrest in a Series of 7 Burglaries
Friday police made an arrest in connection with a series of burglaries that took place in the outskirts of Crown Heights. The suspect, a black man named Michael Burnett, 44, was taken into custody at 11:00pm on Friday night on Nostrand Avenue and Midwood Street.
The suspect was charged with burglary in connection with 7 burglaries which took place at the following addresses:
1) On Friday 3/19/10 at 0710 hours, the suspect entered 600 New York Avenue and removed property.
2) On Wednesday 3/24/10 at 2230 hours, the suspect entered 588 Brooklyn Avenue and removed property.
3) On Sunday 3/28/10 at 1730 hours, the suspect entered 1084 Nostrand Avenue and removed property.
4) On Tuesday 3/30/10 at 1600 hours, the suspect entered 527 Rogers Avenue and removed property.
5) On Wednesday 3/31/10 at 0330 hours, the suspect entered 580 Rogers Avenue and removed property.
6) On Wednesday 3/31/10 at 2000 hours, the suspect entered 618 Rogers Avenue and removed property.
7) On Thursday 4/1/10 at 2000 hours, the suspect entered 588 Midwood Street and removed property.
Detectives developed information while investigating one of the burglaries which led them to identify a possible suspect.
Through their investigation they determined that the individual was wanted for a past warrant.
On Friday 4/2/10 detectives located the suspect in front of 1137 Nostrand Avenue and arrested him on the outstanding warrant. At the time he was found to be in possession of burglary tools. After further investigation, the suspect was charged as listed above.
Among the items stolen were computers and other electronics , but that’s not all. “The fish tank, OK? We’re talking about a fish tank, a 10-gallon, with fish with plants and a light and it’s gone,” Winifred Wellington of Lefferts Garden Montessori told NY1. “I mean, it’s the first thing you see when you come in, so that was very surprising.”
