Thousands of dollars were stolen out of an ATM on Kingston Avenue last night. The incident took place at the intersection of Kingston Avenue and Crown Street, in front of Post Mark-it, where the ATM which has been there for nearly a year was pried open and its contents emptied.

Thousands of dollars were stolen out of an ATM on Kingston Avenue last night. The incident took place at the intersection of Kingston Avenue and Crown Street, in front of Post Mark-it, where the ATM which has been there for nearly a year was pried open and its contents emptied.

The ATM is independently owned by a local Lubavitcher who told CrownHeights.info that there was a “few thousand” in the machine, and that he will be making a police report.

It appeared that perhaps a vehicle was used to pull apart the ATM which came apart from the metal gate it was welded to.

Apparently the incident was not captured on any surveillance cameras.

    WHAT is the police doing in our neighborhood ?
    how is it that 4 indiciduals and their leaders take over a community and everyone is quiet ?

    Why would anyone in their right mind leave an ATM in the middle of this jungle (crown heights)? You got to be out of your mind? Any brains involved?

    Wow. On my way yesterday evening past that ATM I was thinking that this is asking for it and boy was I right. Unreal….

  • Its a BROKEN ATM from before

    As far as i know, this ATM maxhine is broken.
    Its says I took out $100 dollars, however ONLY $60 cash came out of the machine!!!

    I complained, but they dont do anything about it, so just warning you guyz, these are crappy stuff here.

    Isn’t there another one by gumbo? Instead of taking credit cards they tell you can use the ATM outside so they don’t have to pay the credit card charges you do by using the ATM!

    unbelievable, just incredible. Right out there on Kingston with 3 police on every other corner.

    I wonder if this will lead to series of these robberies. Kahan’s has had the same (type) machine for a while – and Flash just put one in.

    For a fact, there’s a video surveillance from Apple Drugs around this area – they for sure captured some part of the scene….
    But honestly, if ATM machines are that easy to break through and they don’t automatically trigger an alarm – what a waste!
