CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A young Bochur was viciously attacked and robbed Monday evening as he cut through Lefferts Park. The incident took place at around 5:30pm where a group of around five black teens pounced on the Bochur, punching him in the face a number of times and stealing his cell phone.
Beaten and severely injured the Bochur made his was out of the park screaming for help, and the first person he encountered, a Lubavitcher, called Shomrim and Hatzalah. “It was horrifying, [the victim] approached me gushing blood from all over his head and face and begged me for help” said the bystander, who asked not to be named.

Shomrim arrived first on scene and immediately called for police backup, which came over 20 minutes later.
Hatzalah arrived within seconds of Shomrim and began treating the victim, who told medical personal that his thinks he was hit with brass knuckles, for bleeding from the top of his head and nose, possibly from a broken nose, after not being able to properly stop the bleeding Hatzalah rushed him to Kings County Hospital.
The victim was not able to give a good description of his assailants, and Shomrim was not able canvass in search for them.
When police did finally arrive one bystander said that the officers appeared uninterested, and any information they did take was written down on scraps of paper. “Some official report that would make, right?” quipped the bystander.

Contact Officer Charlie Ryan of 71st precinct at 718-735-0528. He spoke at the women’s self defense evening on Nov 10th and insisted that the police come RIGHT away upon calling 911. He acted very surprised when we told him specific instances when they took a long time to come. He said to call him anytime there is a problem! Try it.

These animals wont understand until they are spoken to in a language in which they are able to understand.Yes, five against one is unfair and dont try to be the hero, but you have to have some recourse of defense. While you are at it, get some pepper spray or mace. No harm done in being able to protect yourself, its not against the law! Better yet, when the bochur gets released, have him present himself to the “VAAD” or JCC and ask if this was your son or relative, what would you do about it? I will bet they would go for blood. What happened to the good old days when there were two bochurim way back when who would prowl the streets looking to fight these vermin? Where are those vigilantes?

Young black men come from extremely low income homes. As such they must resort to alternative methods in order to get their families presents for the holidays. This bochur was like Santa to them, only he came a bit early this year. Instead of wanting to fight back we should try to understand where they are coming from and why they feel like fighting is the way to go, then we’ll be able to relate to them better. They only hit as a last resort after asking for the cell phone nicely and being refused in a belligerent way. Think, how would you react? Why must we always be so quick to judge? If it happened to me I would smile and say here take my phone and my wallet too. Cuz I know that society has let them down so terribly.

I was at the scene of this horrible attack and I saw the bochur bleeding profusely, it was horrible. A young black woman who lives in that building was also standing there and saw what had happened. She was very shocked at the brutality and she said that you have to be so careful walking around at night as indeed she is. She also said that she knows that the attacks will increase around the holiday season when they are feeling desperate for a new gadget around now. Also she said that you must be careful where you park your car and never park on east new york ave cuz thats where they are more prone to break in and she never parks there. By the way, you cant see it in the pictures but there was so much blood on the side walk that it looked like someone was shot there.

there was an attempted brake-in last week in my building. It took cops between 2 and a half to 3 hours to finally show up.
though, Shomrim were great. less then 5 minutes to respond.

I live right near there, im not afraid not at all the police of course do their jobs well, so well that they r undercover. So undercover that no one sees them until they r being forced to appear in the streets. I come back home later than that and walk those same streets back home. I just wish I do not have to gulp anymore and watch behind my shoulder going thru those same dark streets. Im not sure what else can be done about this because it is always the same thing until there is an example to be made of. When they pull their fingers out its often too late and the damage is done. Im sick of this every year the same thing over and over again. I wish it would all end and that i would not have to worry walking down my neighborhood just to go home at night hoping that my family is ok. I just hope oneday all this stops and we can live in a so called normal neighborhood free of fear of walking down a simple street back home.

anyways the police (who usualy get paid 50$ or more per hour) enjoy sitting and shmoozing at the pricint and don’t like to be disturbed for a call (unless they could get more money).
