CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] – A Black woman twice attempted to pass fake currency in Crown Kosher, a butcher shop on Kingston Avenue, once successfully. One day later a Black man attempted to do the same in another store on the Avenue.
The two appeared to have been trying to make small purchases with the bad bills and get change in good currency, the bills they were using were $10’s and $20’s which don’t usually draw the attention of the cashiers.
Last week the woman made her first appearance in the butcher shop with a $10 and an unsuspecting employee accepted it, the next day the woman tried again only to owner spotted the forgery and called the police, who responded within a half hour, and said that the incident wasn’t a crime and to simply ‘rip up the bill and throw it out.’

If You Receive a Counterfeit
* Do not return it to the passer.
* Delay the passer if possible.
* Observe the passer’s description, as well as that of any companions, and the license plate numbers of any vehicles used.
* CONTACT YOUR LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT or United States Secret Service field office. These numbers can be found on the inside front page of your local telephone directory.
* Write your initials and the date in the white border areas of the suspect note.
* Limit the handling of the note. Carefully place it in a protective covering, such as an envelope.
* Surrender the note or coin only to a properly identified police officer or a U.S. Secret Service special agent.

If the police, who responded within a half hour, said that “the incident wasn’t a crime and to simply ‘rip up the bill and throw it out.’ Then this should be told to the FBI because ”IT IS“ a crime a ”FERERAL CRIME”
Actually there is so much almost perfect counterfeit money in circulation now that only the really bad looking ones are being detected. Even most banks can’t tell the difference.

people have a special marker that if you cant tell that the bill is real people write on it and if it comes out the color of brown its real and if it comes out the color of black its fake

NYPD lazy
Actually some fake bills can pass that test too. The best thing to so is to learn the different counterfit measures that the bill contains. A guy once passed three bills on me that passed that test.
As far as the police ripping up the bill. I think that it was just them being lazy SOBs. When i fell of my bike because a car cut me off and then ran away the cops said it was not a crime because the car did not actally hit me so it was not a HIT and run. NYPD is just lazy.
