Black Teen Assaults Jew, Jew Arrested

Update 10:50pm: The Police have arrested the Yid that was assaulted, he is currently handcuffed to his hospital bed, but have not charged him with anything yet. The black teen was held briefly, but has been released into his parents custody.

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] –- Today, Wednesday at about 4:15pm, a Black teen went on a rampage after attempting to scare a Jew, attacking another with a rock causing him to loose consciousness, and brawling with a witness. The short chase down Albany Avenue when Shomrim members and police came at him from opposite directions and the assailant gave up fleeing.

The incident originated on Albany Avenue between Union and President Streets where the juvenile accosted the Jewish yungerman by shouting in his face in attempt to scare him, the victim turned and shouted back “what are you doing?” and the assailant fled down Albany.

A number of witnesses joined in and gave chase, at the intersection of President and Albany an altercation broke out where the Black teen slammed a hard object into the head of one of the witnesses, causing him loose consciousness and drawing blood from the wound.

The youth was apprehended between Montgomery and Empire as police officers, who observed the chase, and responding Shomrim members closed in on him, the youth picked his hands up and stood against the wall as officers put the cuffs on him.

A crossing guard who was standing on Crown and Albany observed the case and called 911 and stated that “a group of Jews are chasing a black kid and beating him up,” a statement which she reiterated to officers at the scene.

At this time police refused to arrest the youth, saying that they are ‘investigating’ the incident.

    The ”unofficial“ policy of the 71st Precinct in the summer is:

    When there’s a ”he said“,”he said“ complaint by a Jew against a Black person, the police will either arrest neither of them (neither the Jew nor the Black person), or they will arrest both of them!

    This is supposedly to prevent race riots, which are supposedly more likely during the summer!

    So, instead of the thugs hurting us en masse, they get to get away with hurting us one-at-a-time, like the poor fellow who got hit hard enough to get knocked out and his head busted open! And the poor minding-his-own-business Yid who got threatened, out-of-the-blue, by the shouting-in-his-face perpetrator.

    The Jewish victims are lucky the police didn’t arrest THEM. I speak from experience:

    A relative of mine lodged a complaint to the 71st last summer, against a Black person who went on a tirade outside our home, raging and cursing against the Jews and trying to incite passersby to join him (B”H unsuccessfully!).

    The police officers arrived and quickly called for reinforcements, who promptly made up an impossible story that my relative had done “disorderly conduct,” tightly handcuffed this relative, and took him away!

    (We’re told that only AFTER they made this theatrical scene against my relative, the 71st also quietly and politely issued a similar ticket to the original perpetrator he’d called them about.)

    So, the bottom line is, if any of us Yidden has a reason to call the 71st to complain against any offense by a Black person in Crown Heights, Hashem should help, because the 71st will likely only make it worse!

    A local seasoned Yiddishe attorney advised us that, from now on, the only time a Yid can hope for justice in such a situation is if the Black person is actually seen in the act by the Police. And even THAT is a maybe!

    As for that Crossing Guard, well, let’s just say she’ll get her “heavenly reward” . . . .

    Unfortunately there are enough unemployed Crown Heights residents right now and I am sure they would jump at the chance to earn some money and have a steady income.
    Likewise custodian jobs could be offered to Jewish residents of Crown Heights too – if people really needed the money and really wanted to work they would take those jobs.

    I dont think this is a reason to chase the black teen. He for sure has a case. He was being chased by a bunch of jewish kids and acted in self defense. he should have been ignored, unless he physically touched the jew.

    That’s why we need video cameras on every block. If there is any video footage it would show what really happened and the police would be forced to acknowledge the truth upon viewing a copy of it (unless they would rather be embarrased by having it played in the media).

    It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to determine who is at fault here. And for this guard to defend this creep is extremely troubling. If something happened to one of the kids, G-d forbid, would she defend the perp, as she did now?

    The incident between this black teen and the Jewish residents was quite unfortunate, and however bad this isolated incident was, I’m disturbed more by many of the comments that have been posted.

    For such a united community it astonishes me that the Jewish community has yet to realize the problem in the belief that you are victims is part of the reason why you continue to get victimized.

    Some of you seem to think of those outside of your community to be predators of some sort, and because that is how you view them this is how they act. If you had an ugly duckling and you treated it like a beautiful swan, it would act like a beautiful swan (a bit remixed, but hopefully you get the point).

    This is the understanding I’m taking from reading not just this article but several different articles posted on this website; Articles in which you continually choose to throw in the race of the police officer, or perpretator, or victim, as if that is the reason why such offense was committed. If you can’t see past the the skin color you’ll never understand the problem, and if you don’t understand the problem, how are you going to find the solution.

    Despite this, each community will defend their own. An example would be in another article I’ve read. A commenter suggested, I’m assuming as an attempt to defend the integrity of the Jewish community in relation with the police, to fight all tickets, whether they were warranted or not. A lie is a sin, there are no small sins or big sins, whether it’s to defend or not. Who’s to say that in such a tight community, those in this community would not say what would be most biased in helping to their community.

    I’m saying this in response to of some of the comments o the crossing guard. There are thousands of people in the Crown Heights community, white, black, hispanic, who have varying views from that of the Hasidic Jews. For a some people in the Jewish Commmunity (those who have commented on this board) you are quite bigoted. It’s something I don’t understand especially from a group who has experience bigotry throughout Judaism’s 4,000+ year existence. One that far surpasses the bigotry experienced by the black community.

    First she obviously did not see the original incident with the first individual. What she saw was the response, the Jewish community trying to catch the perpetrator. And that is what she witnessed to. I don’t know what happened from that point other than what has been posted on this site.

    People continually talk about respect, but one cannot command the respect of another when he/she continually debases the other in his/her mind. Outwardly actions always express the thoughts. That thinking will only breed more victims, in both communities.

    The comments I’ve read on this articles and others are quite telling of what the Jewish community in Crown Heights feels. Of course I realize that the exact thoughts of those who have commented may only represent a small fraction of the CH Jewish population.

    I am in no way trying to defend that young man. He deserved a punishment equitable to the crime he committed. If the cops felt that the parents were capable of administering that level of punishment, then that’s their call to make (he is a juvenile, with a juvenile mind despite his size).

    Again, I am not defending that young man or anyone who commits a similar crime, there just seem to be a bigger problem at hand that seemingly is not overtly seen by those who have chosen to comment.

I live on Utica Ave and the hallway of my building is used as a public baby sitter no one is watching these children enough this is why teens and pre teens get into trouble the parents do not care enough..
