Jewish Boy Assaulted by Black Gang

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A group of Black teens viciously assaulted a Jewish boy on Lefferts Avenue this afternoon, Sunday. The incident took place in front of the Shul Bais Eliyahu Nochum, which is between Albany and Troy Avenues. A Jewish boy was sitting on the steps of the shul waiting for his father, when a group of 6 or 7 Black teens threw a football directly at him; the group then surrounded and assaulted the young boy. According to the victim, he received at least two punches from each of his attackers.

Shomrim and Police were called and responded to the victim’s house and took statements. After checking out the victim, Shomrim determined that the boy required medical attention due to heavy swelling on the side of his face. Canvases in search of the group yielded no results and police filed a police report.

At the scene, one angry resident vented about the uselessness of all the extra cops out on the streets. “They [the cops] are out in droves, but essentially, all they are doing is giving out tickets and harassing us.” He added, “if they prevented crime or apprehended perpetrators, then we might feel safer in our community, but these guys aren’t doing anything to combat the increasing crime rate,” a sentiment echoed by many Crown Heights residents.

  • Piece of advice.

    I am not sure why that guy made that comment about the police, as it is completely ineffective, and may even make matters worse.

    Police don’t have eyes on the back of their heads and cannot be expected to see each and every crime before it happens.

    Typically, criminals, including gangs like these, work like sharks – they first look around the area to make sure that nobody else is around before they make an attack.

    True, the police are not doing even nearly what they can, but when you insult them it just makes matters worse.

    The only advice I can offer is to be alert. Try not to walk alone on a deserted street if possible. There are a lot of young bochrim who walk home late from farbrengens alone and are completely oblivious to the dangers involved. Always walk with a friend or two, and avoid deserted streets at all costs.

    I have studies martial arts for many years, and I can tell you that one of the principals that martial arts teaches is that you should avoid trouble at all costs! Self-defense is used as a last resort.

    So be smart, if you see a group of schvartzes (excuse me for being so blunt) walking down a street, DON’T walk past them! Cross the street and avoid them at all costs.

    I am so sick and tired of these stories…we should import the guys from Williamsburg…believe me..the streets would be safer withing two weeks…they would be scared to LOOK at a Jewish person ,let alone touch them!

    Don’t fool yourself into thinking that if the police were doing their jobs there would be no problems.

    Even if they were doing their jobs to the maximum capacity, there would still be problems! It is not the police that are at fault, it is those who commit these crimes!

    We are dealing with an entire race of people living in our neighborhood who are completely ignorant and uneducated. They are not taught by their parents or teachers how to treat another human being and therefore behave like animals.

    I don’t know how old you are, but STAYING AWAY IS YOUR BEST LINE OF DEFENSE!

    The advice was not to “cross the street when seeing an individual coming”, it was to “cross the street when seeing a GROUP of individuals”.

    Rule #1: Don’t try to be a hero.

    SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS WILL HELP A LOT. THEY SHOULD BE ON EVERY CORNER AND CLOSE TO ALL THE SHULS AND PUBLIC ESTABLISHMENTS. BELIEVE IT OR NOT IS ONE OF THE MOST EFFECTIVE AND INEXPENSIVE SOLUTIONS THAT THE WHOLE WORD IS USING.

    Even though its upsetting what happened to the boy but for the love of G-d stop crying about it! You all know in what neighborhood you live and who your neighbors are. Stop blaming everything on cops who are out there standing their posts for 8 hours a day, be grateful that you even have that. In many other areas in Brooklyn people get assaulted every single day and no one says anything about it and they don’t have cops walking around their streets. How about getting cops to some other areas of Brooklyn? How about Coney Island? Borough Park? Sheepshead Bay? We want cops there too!!!!!

    We need cameras, not extra cops that just give out more tickets, or yap it up with their fellow cops. They do so much talking to each other how can they be watching out. Also, why are they on Kingston, we need them on the outer blocks where most crime happens!!!

    Sadly, the old churchgoing generation cannot control the youth, and many of their own children have followed radical leaders or found their way to drugs that have ruined what used to be a flourishing black middle class in Crown Heights.

    And now with a thinly disguised representative of those radical leaders in the (formerly) White House, the chutzpah of their followers knows no bounds.

    The answer? Yes, Williamsburgh and every Jew a .22, but also dialogue with the few responsible leaders left, like (Assemblyman?) Karim Camara and the gentlemanly pastor who used to be active in the precinct council. They have less use for the gangsters and their crimes than we do – because this scum also preys on the honest hard working older generation and their small businesses.

If they appear separate from one-another there’s probably animosity amongst them, and the chances of them being dangerous to others is greater.

    Once, my wife and I were in Rochester Park. Two Hispanic teens started throwing rocks. I couldn’t retaliate because there were cars behind them. I took out a broken cell phone,held it up and said: “I’m calling the police and taking your picture.” They ran away very fast.
    Carry any type of cell phone, real, broken, imitation.
    Lets’ foster more Ahavat Yisroel here in Crown Heights. Perhaps this will reduce the incidence of violence. Our Shluchim should continue/start to teach The 7 Noahide Laws (I’ve been doing it myself.)

  • The job of police is....

    not that police have to catch every criminal in the act but when they do catch someone they have to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

    if not, then not only are the cops not stopping crime but they are encouraging the criminals to keep doing what they’re doing.

    my personal belief (based on sound observations) is that bloomberg likes using the system for money making ventures like writing tickets and not money losing ventures like paying for prison stays.

    Everyone wants to place blame….and be neg. towards the police. Name one commanding officer that has been able to prevent these kind of attacks? Be aware of your surroundings.
    Instead of voicing your opinions cowardly on a website, come to the community council meetings. Also the 71 allows a Ride-along with the police; which is when you actually sit in the back seat answering 911 calls with them. Why not do that so you could see how their are crimes against every community not just ours. First we complain there are not enough cops….then when there here they write tickets. Then you say they have nothing better to do…Our community makes me sick..
    How about when you see the cop on the corner tell him Thankyou, or hello? they are standing out there for hours, you walk by them why not say hello.

    Ok. I was walking down a street on shabbos and a shwatsa comes and screams, “ that’s my hat!!!” he fakes to chase me. Then I run for it. It was the scarriest experince I’ve had.

    there wss an arrest made too with this incident. we as a community in crown heights have too many cops and some should be put back into sheepshead bay williamsburg and borough park etc…

    police cannot be everywhere but when they are somewhere they may take down a report, but they are either gonna make the crime look less severe than it is or lose the report. experience with cop says so
