Brick Thrown into Classroom Window, Bochur Injured

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A large brick was lobbed into a first-floor classroom, striking a Bochur in the head this afternoon, Sunday. The Bochur sustained deep cuts and lacerations to his head, requiring multiple stitches to control the bleeding. This was the second violent act of the day, Sunday afternoon alone, where Jewish boys were the target of vicious assaults.

The incident happened at Chovevei Torah on Eastern Parkway and Albany Avenue. A group of three Black teens walked from the back of the school building, brick in hand and threw the brick through a low window at the Bochur, who was sitting a mere 3 feet from the window.

A Bochur who saw what had happened called Shomrim and chased after the group, which split up and ran in different directions. The Bochur managed to follow two of them but then lost them as they went into the subway station at Schenectady Ave.

Shomrim members arrived on the scene moments later and alerted Hatzalah and police. Shomrim then got descriptions of the assailants, who were described to be Black, around 14 to 16 years of age, and wearing sweatshirts; but could not find them. Police reports were filed.

In case of an emergency never hesitate to call 911 and Shomrim at (718) 774-3333 24/7

  • Too bad

These are the moments when I miss M.kahane the most because he and his followers would take matters into their own hands.I know I know-cannot stoop to their level but this is the only level they comprehend. He would come in with chains and give them a little of their own medicine.I loved him for that.Too bad those days are no longer here.

the bochur got a couple of staples courtesy of “The Heimishe Doctor”…. and fyi… stitches don’t control bleeding…

  • A jew

That’s it we have to start fight back, tame to show them that we can defend our selfs

  • Got to see changes

So now we know why there are cops on every corner again. But isn’t it funny that the thugs are so much smarter & manage to avoid being caught every time?

Basically, despite a strong & visible police presence, people are getting hurt. That’s because the police are burned out, bored being here, & lazy, AND they think we’re a bunch of stupid Jews who probably deserve it for whatever asinine reasons & stereotypes they hold. I think their sensitivity training is sadly deficient in its effectiveness. WE need to join forces & protect our own. Enough of the politics & personalities…Jews are getting hurt. Jews may suffer worse. We need to look after ourselves (as we have done throughout history!)instead of spouting politics & pointing fingers. Enough! No body cares anymore. Dead people don’t worry about Yichus & money. Time to show Achdus, work with each other & other groups in different neighborhoods. There are many brave, capable & responsible young men here. Organize & you can save us.

Things seem to be escalating. The lowlives are getting much braver & we are not prepared for it. This summer may be a real attraction for their violence. Can’t we stop it now? If we can’t do it with the police we have to do it without. Cops hang out under Hamafitz’s awning, by the tree on Croqn/Albany, opposite the ladies’ mikvah. Why aren’t they patrolling the alleys, checking back doors & windows? Answer: too lazy. Most of them look as though they couldn’t give a damn about us, but the fact is, if they were motivated crime for our Black neighbors would also disappear.

We as CH residents need to live by one message. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING! Tell your kids to play detective as they go too & from school. Adults too should report things that seem “different.” If we bombard the 71st with concerns about suspicious activity/people, they may start patrolling instead of leaning against walls, talking on cells, smoking, or eating sushi (all of which I saw yesterday in a 1 hour window.)

  • rediculous

Is it just me, or do other people notice how the cops seem to be out in DROVES, and groups of ten, walking leisurely down the streets together? Where are all those patrolling the area? Oh, I know, they are busy giving out tickets.

  • Cee

We need cameras, not extra cops that just give out more tickets, or yap it up with their fellow cops. They do so much talking to each other how can they be watching out. Also, why are they on Kingston, we need them on the outer blocks where most crime happens!!!

  • sam

this is a clear bias incident i would like to know how the police department classified it

  • Another Protest!

Alright guys are you ready for another protest? if they didnt get the message lets do this again, if its gonna be once a year then lets do this! We must “fight back”

Everybody just take a deep breath and calm down. A few tanagers throw a rock into a building, there is nothing that could have been done to stop that.

Now we must make sure that the police follow up on this, but it doesn’t help to get all hysterical.

    BS”D
    Refuah shelaima!
Ow! I feel some of the pain.
These wicked teenagers are ‘chaiv mita.’
    These cold-blooded vampires could have
    killed or blinded someone.
Until when must we obey the weak laws
in America? Laws w/o love or heart.
Let’s get out there and teach the (So-called)
leaders the virtue of The 7 Noahide Laws.

  • ENOUGH ALREADY!

    To Yitz…
your OBVIOUSLY not a PARENT if your telling people not to get ‘hysterical”if the only way that people will actually react and do something is for them to be hysterical, then by all means…GET HYSTERICAL!
I for one AM hysterical, am FRIGHTENED, and am as P.O as one can be at the fact that NOTHING is being done!

    BULLET PROOF WINDOWS
or BARS THAT WON’T LET ANYONE THROW BRICKS
    VIDEO CAMERAS AROUND THE BUILDING
    A SECURITY GUARD(S)

    The Rebbe Said:
If Israel gives away land that Hashem gave them in a miraculous way, this will put the lives of Jews all over the world in danger.

  • P.C.

No excuse but non-Jewish kids don’t have anything to do on Sundays so they get into trouble. There needs to be some organized activity to keep these kids busy. Maybe they could start by cleaning up the neighborhood so there won’t be bricks lying around.

Yits you’re for the pits, looks like you would like to join one of the political fractions, be it the chanina group or the moshe rubashkin group. the point is that on the ground people are getting hurt, you have people that moved into homes on lets say carroll and schenectady and they need help from the groups of uncontrolled teen aged crackers.

  • Parent of Bochur

B’H my son will AYH okay. However, I shudder to think what could have Chas V’Sholom happened. It was a miracle that he was’nt seriously hurt. Thank you Hatzolah and Shomrim for responding so quickly. The police took down a report, but even if they do catch these thugs, I am sure they would just get away with a slap on the wrist, if that much. They are just a bunch of hoodlums looking for trouble, and they need to be stopped. We cannot sit by wait to see what they do next. And to all of you who say dont get hysterical or freak out, when its your child, you react differently. I am not saying to freak out, but action must be taken. Whether its a police officer by the yeshivas and shuls, or cameras. Something must be done, so that we know that when we send our children to yeshiva and school they are safe. I hope we can catch these hoodlums before they hurt anybody else.
