Teen Hurls Glass Bottle at Bus Injuring Passengers

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A routine ride on the Community Council’s Crown Heights – Boro Park bus took a turn for the worse this afternoon. A glass bottle was hurled at the bus, going right through one of the windows and striking two of the passengers, injuring them. One passenger described the scene to CrownHeights.info; “I heard a loud bang and then women started screaming. I was petrified…”

The incident took place as the bus was driving past Empire Boulevard and Balfour Place, at around 3:50pm. A group of three black youths, described as two females and one male in their early teens, threw a glass bottle at the bus striking it and causing damage and injuring passengers.

Hatzalah, Shomrim and Police were called and all responded within moments. Hatzalah treated a woman who was struck in her head and police took her statement.

Meanwhile, a passenger got off the bus and chased one of the three perps, and finally apprehending him on Nostrand Avenue and Montgomery Street.

Shomrim rounded up all the witnesses, one of which was able to positively identify the suspect. The suspect a 14 years old boy was placed under arrest and will probably charge him with 2nd degree assault.

Special thanks goes to officers from the Community Affairs Unit and Brooklyn South Task Force. Hatzalah for their quick response and treating the victim, and to Shomrim for their quick response and assisting in the arrest of the suspect.

    I was on the bus at the same stop when they threw a stink bomb into the open door last year.

    They obviously wait for this bus at that tstop and then do their deed.

    So what happens to that little animal punk? A little slap on the wrist and a warning never to “get caught” again?

    Someone should walk that animal to one of the many alleys in Crown Heights and teach him a real lesson, maybe then people will think twice about crime.

    Oh and please tell me they will at least make him pay a nice fine and money for the broken window and damages he caused???

    Last I heard, the Community Council does not operate a bus to Borough Park. Not that it matters in this case, but it just is not a Community Council Bus

    The lady was in absolute shock. After a while she began to calm down a little. Her daughter had a small scratch on her face from the broken glass.
    The 14 year old is a true criminal in the making – although he has already proved it – his intent was harm not just having ‘fun’. the force of the bottle hitting the window was so loud and forceful.

    What if he had seriously injured someone or killed them? Binded? A bottle can be thrown with much force. There are heavy glass bottles.

    Your assumptions and fears are irrational and as intolerant as the kid throwing the bottle.

    Name-calling is not righteous.

    Nobody knows for a fact how he was raised and nobody is without sin.

    Hopefully an adult will discuss the incident with help him understand the error of his ways and B”H nobody was seriously hurt. You cannot solve intolerance by returning it, but by cleansing yourself of it and not passing it down to children. There is a lot of apathy and a lack of understanding in this world and it needs to be fixed so things like this don’t happen.
