Many police officers responded to the scene but no arrests were made and no gun was recovered. The victim was transported to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.
Police believe that the incident was not just a robbery or random violence, and may have been related to a past dispute between the victim and his assailant.
This incident comes barely a day after a double homicide on Nostrand and Lefferts, where two thugs were killed while attempting to rob a novelty store. Violent crime continues to rise Crown Heights, Murder, up by 33.3% Robbery, up by 4.6% and Felony Assault up by 2.8%compared to this time last year, not including the last two weeks of violence.
In comments on CrownHeights.info one reader noted that we currently have many more police officers ‘walking the beat’ then we had last year, and yet crime is still on the rise bringing the current commanding officer’s leadership into question once again, echoing a sentiment felt by many Crown Heights residents.
nobama
gun sales went up since obama elected
I agree Nobama
Especially since our new cities name is Baraklyn
Nobama Nomore
It’s time we all armed ourselves. We’re sitting targets for these schorim.

Don’t blame the police for crime being up. It has more to do with the economy, which is much worse this year than last year. More people out of work with more time on their hands to get into trouble.
me myself and i
to CN: your right
like that lady who said by obamas speech that if he wins shell just stop workin bc the savior will take care of us…
“bringing the current commanding officer’s leadership into question once again, echoing a sentiment felt by many Crown Heights residents”
hmm you know what i find intrestting
its more inportant for “THE SOME” to think that simoneti is doing a good job for CH Crime… just bc his fisst move into the pcnt “aside for imediet vacation” is to get involved in political affairs, when not only is he the wrong person for the job he didnt even accomplish that either…
when we look at the rising crime i find it bafeling how some still think this guy is doing a good job
Shlomo
Blaming the Obama election is absolutely immature. The election has nothing to do with gun violence. If you read the papers, you’d learn how many politicians want to limit gun sales. Let’s be more responsible over here.
pockets
every one sould take there hands out of there pockets and start working!
follick
I agree. The problem is exacerbated by the bad economy. So it’s really Bush’s fault.
elliyahu
THE GOVERNOR OF NY and all reps. must make a GUN BAN LAW, everyone MUST turn in their weapons… It would take a while to do a HOUSE TO HOUSE SEARCH FOR GUNS, but if it saves ONE LIFE It is worth it.
levi
the police are loosing hold on our neighbourhood where are our extra cops

You quote, “bringing the current commanding officer’s leadership into question once again.” That makes no sense. How in the world is it his fault that people are doing crime, especially if he, as you quote, he has more cops on the beat. Crime is a result of many many factors, upbringing, family, education… (as the Rebbe spoke many times)

if there is a shuting at 478 malbone st and the police did not do the job because the commanding officer is a friend with a lawyer that lives there this is his fault
selfmade criminals-dont blame the econom
i thought crime was up because of the state of the economy. that people simply dont have money for food so they will steal but when my mothers wallet got stolen last week form under her nose she told me a different side which i forgot. she said people are staeling not because they need cold hard cash. they are stealing because they are criminals-they are cold hearted, mean people. if they really needed food there are soup kitchens, if they need a place to stay there are homes. if they need a job, there are job agencies. instead of bringing themselves up they bring themselves down and resort to theft and ciminal acts. ur immediate reaction to this is to deny it and say no, the economy is bad it makes sense, but think again, if people actually showed up for their job interviews, if people were innovative they could think of a way to make money, but instead they just sit and wait for theior “Savior” to help them and live off of medicaid and section 8. these criminals have the power to pick themselves up but they dont. and only THEY are responsible for their actions. Not the economy and not you are to blame. they need to own up to their actions.
Sluchim Beware
More Police = More Tickets. Shluchim who are comming in now beware! Don’t double park, watch the meeter, street signes, talking on the phone, seatbelts, red lights ect….
By the way Empire and Schenectady is known for drug sales hangout. Police “can” do something if they want.
To Eliyahu
I assume you were being sarcastic… you know the old line… if guns are outlawed, only the outlaws will HAVE guns!

Live in an ugly place and you will always be in a bad mood. Why does anyone want to live in such an ugly place anyway? Come on Jews, get out, the rebbe is gone.

Guns are up, guns are down. This is up, this is down…
Let’s all get out there and spread the message and knowledge of the great wisdom of The 7 Noahide Laws.
America, with a wonderful foundation of belief in G-d and tolerance should wake up. The leaders of this country should wake up and help create a real society of justice, peace and brother/sisterhood. All the old methods WON’T WORK!
Contact me for my new system. I’ve been ‘spreading
the word’ for 1 1/2 years in this neighborhodd.
Let’s honor the Lubavitcher Rebbe, MH”M.

There are more police – in the area surrounding the Yeshivah. They walk two abreast. Every day you can see them just standing around talking to each other. Yet, walk the other side of Eastern Parkway and there are none. We need more lighting in around Crown Heights, security cameras, and a Police Dept that is pro active and not reactive
