Air-Bags Stolen from 2 Cars over Shabbos
CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Two cars were broken into over Shabbos and had their airbags stolen. The cars were both parked on Carroll Street between Nostrand and Kingston Avenues and were broken into sometime over Shabbos.
Just about a year ago Crown Heights was hit with a wave of airbags thefts, and in some cases navigation systems and car computers, were stolen out of cars. They target primarily Hondas, there were close to 100 such reports, then it just stopped.
Aron Hershkop of Everything Automotive, a local automobile repair shop, recommended that drivers use anti theft devices such as the ‘club’, “when a thief chooses a car to break-into a car, he would go for the easiest target” adding that a club would pose as a significant deterrent.
In both incidents the owners of the vehicles, who were both Jewish, called 911 and filed police reports at the scene.
Is the airbag theft trend returning?
