New EDP ‘Blackmails’ A Kingston Avenue Store

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A bizarre call came into the Shomrim hotline this morning, Monday. A person walked into Judaica World and refused to leave the store unless he was ‘paid’ to do so. A number of Shomrim members responded and after searching for him briefly, they found him in front of the store.

One of the members approached the person and told him that he was no longer welcome in the store and any attempt to enter will result in his arrest for trespassing. The person, who clearly was ‘not 100%’ responded, “If they don’t pay me I won’t leave”, and that he called to police as well.

Police showed up and the person walked up to the cops and stated “he doesn’t want to pay me to leave his store” pointing at the store manager, who responded that he doesn’t know who he is and never saw him in his life. Officers asked the manager if he ever worked for the store, which he responded that he did not.

Police then warned the man that he is not allowed to enter the store, and if he did he would be arrested. He started arguing with the cops while making no sense.

As Shomrim members began leaving the scene the officers stopped them and thanked them for their response and the way they handled the situation until police arrived.

A month ago Shomrim handled a similar incident, where an individual was invited by a kind family in the neighborhood to stay in their home for a Shabbos, and this person took advantage of the families kindness and ‘squatted’ in their home and refused to leave saying that he is now a tenant and he will not leave.

Through the tireless work of a member in Shomrim who had enlisted the help of a lawyer they were able to have the person removed from the families home. Residents should take care when inviting people into their homes, not to Chas VeShalom not invite anyone in, but to make sure they don’t get caught up in such a terrible situation.

    This guy’s nuts all right. Some tight handcuffs and a night in jailor incarceration one night might have put a bit of a helpful scare into him.

    Liston it is not nice to give our opinion on what we think should be done to anothe yid, however to say this is how Hashem created him it’s (not its)not his fault, that is the mosrt redicules thing i have ever heard, this man obviously need treatment, it is not right at all to poke fun, but the man should get some help and learn to control him self. Hashem doesn’t give us more then what we can handle and if this man thinks he can use his “”problem“ against us” then that is unacceptable

    If you feel this guy is not in touch with reality, please refer him to a hospital for psychiatric assessment. I am sure that Hatzola in New York would be able to tell you what action to take so that he can be escorted to the hospital. Maybe the police can do that. I am not from New York so I don’t know how you work there.

    i’ve seen this guy hanging out a lot in hadar hatorah. he says he’s from moldova, and he doesn’t speak a lot of english (or yiddish or hebrew). to say he’s not 100% is an understatement. i hope he gets the help he needs.

    just so happens to be that this guy for over two months stood during the day time outside of that store so whenever any of the employees or employers opened that door boom there he was. so much for i never seen this person in my life.

    obviuosly the guy is not well and maybe missed a dose of his medication, we need to be more sensitive to these ppl. If he was well, he would be ashamed at the way he was behaving. He can not help himself as many mentally ill ppl.

    I don’t quite agree with that.. as it’s not good to bash others, IT IS on the otherhand an INCREDIBLE THING to be able to discuss and draw very normal conclusions out of situations.

    People are made to speak, and if you read a story like this, from your life experience you translate it to only your way of understanding – read any one of those comments on their own and imagine that that’s how you thought – yet when one hears others opinions it makes them strong, in a sense, they become more aware of peoples setbacks and gives the opportunity to grow with each discussion.. much more than with one own thoughts alone.

    Now hopefully someone will one day help this poor guy.. doesnt’ have to be any one of you, i’m sure hashem will take care of that when He sees the time fit.
