i think if the guy needed the coat badly enough to steal it, they should have just let him have it.
Lehiot B-Simcha
look, i’m not condemning theft, but it is indeeed a pity to steal from that store- no less a small children’s coat by a grown man.

To CH-er
Please be advised, when a person is arrested, it is the District Attys Office and JUDGE who determine ones release, not the Police. The Police can’t seem to do anything right in the eyes of some residents. I KNOW NOT all residents have your outlook & will differ in opinions and support us. Thanks to ALL thos who do.

TO CHRes
Dear idiot please contact the police so you can personally donate him mioney to buy a coat
Menny
Hi,
To: CHRes.
If the store and police let him go, and have the coat, You don’t wanna know what would be next with that perp.
Because if you let him go, he will see that he can get away with stealing and do more bad!
The police & Shomrim, did well!…
Go Shomrim!
Pentax
CHRes are you feeling O.K.
It’s called work. There is no
reason why someone should steal.
In the hood
Next time it won’t be a coat….where is your seichel?
KindaLikeAJob
While I don’t agree completely with CHRes’ post, I do share in the poster’s sympathies.
I think what society needs is to implement some sort of system whereby people with no money can offer some form of service or labor and in exchange receive some sort of recognized bartering implements which they can redeem for merchandise they need.
I don’t know why no one has ever thought of this…

Some people have difficulties getting jobs. This has consequences on their children… etc
Though both argument are true.
1 – A grown man stealing a childs coat. Poor man! Indeed, you might let him go.
2a – If we let him go, he’ll steal again
So whatever happened, … Gvurah overruled!
wuteva.
Wow!
I don’t know about the rest of you, but CH-er seems to be writing in a style known as ‘humor’- which cannot be criticized with the same enthusiasm as when one writes in the conventional style others use.
Take a vacation…
BP-er
He was probably stealing it so he could resell it.
Right and Wrong
“Right or wrong, you’re passionate. You care.” If that doesn’t sum up current liberal attitudes in the face of facts, I don’t know what does. Caring means more to them than actually knowing the difference between something that’s false and something that’s true (or something which is right or WRONG).
To CHER:
If you really feel bad for him why not invite him to your home and hook him up with whatever he needs! why not take him back to the store and buy him (on your own account) whatever he may need!
Why Not? you care!

Sgt Bobby is that realy you? We knew for the longest the cops were lurking on this site. Kudos to you for finally coming out of the dark.
Don’t pay attention to the bleeding hearts idiots, just do your job. And please make sure Pablo and Sgt Signal know what to do the next time they happen to be called.
Keep up the good work Shomrim & Police.

Actually, such a thing has been implemented a little while ago. Such a “bartering implement” is called “money”. Look it up sometimes, very interesting concept. There is also an idea of giving said “money” without work as a form of assistance, idea of abusing the said idea, idea of trying to minimize abuse, etc. Don’t think you can reinvent the whole system of social support and tzedaka on a spot. Meanwhile, crime cannot occur and civilization and stability of society must be upheld (hence the police).
I think this is why you need to teach basics of derech eretz (basic civics, for example) in school.
By the way, I don’t think he really needed that coat to survive. I think the guy is accustomed to being lazy and not working to support oneself and stealing instead, just like thousands of other criminals.
?????
what is this can people make up there mind ? they want things stopped but when the police does something they said the person should have been let off if he needed it that badly e.t.c

You guys are brilliant! Just brilliant!

wow. people on this site really don’t get humor. i highly doubt CHRes was being serious. and i have no doubt that kindalikeajob knows exactly what money is. i think that was his point.
seriously people, loosen up.
Benny
Letting someone steal will only encourage them and others to do it more often. I say prosecute to the fullest extent of the law to teach them and others a lesson. Being liberal does not mean letting criminals get away with crime. Being liberal means giving/raising money for charity.
A spade is a spade
to Sgt. Troise,
You are correct, that we must give credit where it is due. However, you must realize that the mistrust and/or outright animosity toward the cops is well deserved and is the product of many years of police indifference/outright brutality to members of this community. You can help by practicing what is emblazoned on your vehicles, notably, Courtesy, Professionalism, RESPECT the last of which is truly lacking. An example to this is the way your deputies treat the members of the Shomrim and Hatzalah organizations. Whose members are held in high esteem by this community for their selfless devotion and sacrifice for the protection of its peoples. an afront to them is an afront to the respect of this entire community. Just as a building is only as strong as its foundation the police force is only as good and decent as its leaders.
