Bochur Viciously Beaten Friday Night in Racially Motivated Attack

In response to the assault, Police posted a car in front of the location.

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A Bochur was viciously beaten in a racially motivated attack Friday night. The incident took place at around 10:00pm when the Bochur was on his way to a friend’s house, and was accosted by 5 Black teens on Carroll Street between Kingston and Brooklyn Avenues.

The group of Blacks pounced on the Bochur, throwing him over and began viciously beating him while cursing at him “you F****** Jew”, “little Jew” and “this is our neighborhood, we will kill you” among other racially motivated slurs and curses. After beating the Bochur for nearly 5 minutes, during which he tried calling for help, they left the scene.

Bloody and beaten the Bochur knocked on the door of one of the houses and Hatzalah was called along with police, they responded and treated the Bochur for bruises all over his body and a deep gash in the top of his head, caused by a rock later found at the scene covered in blood.

The Bochur was taken to a nearby hospital and given a staple on his head for the gash, and was treated for the other injuries.

Police filled out a report and the next day, Shabbos morning, detectives from Bias Crime Unit at One Police Plaza interviewed the Bochur and reported to be taking the case seriously.

CrownHeights.info has learned that there was another assault on Brooklyn and Eastern Parkway where three Bochurim were ganged up on by 5 or 6 Black Teens and were beaten. It is unclear if the two incidents are related.

    Very sorry to hear that horrible stories that happen only 10 pm in one of the “safiest” Crown Heights places.

    Looks like that these bandits feel very free to do what they want as there is no visual present police or anybody else.

    Why can’t our community make ourselves a little bit safer by making shomrim to drive through the streets, putting cameras all over and signs that this area is watched?

    In other areas you can see security cars patrolling all the time, and if they see any stranger they would follow him and ask what is he doing here..
    I am sure that a lot of people would be willing to contribute at least some money toward our safety.

    If this had happened to a black kid by white people or Jews or the blacks (and millions of whites as well) would be asking for blood. Why does no one who ostensibly cares for “civil rights” ever care when someone other than black people are racially assaulted. Why are our black neighbors such racists that they don’t give a hoot when young people are beaten for no reason at all????     Well I’ve had it! There has to be more police cars cruising the street Shabbos evening. What a blatant anti-semite racist attack that needs emergency action. Our only answer at this stage is much more police movement in the night. Otherwise, this community will turn into an outpost settlement in Israel — where family members will have to be on guard and have a rifle at the ready in self defence. Even on Shabbos!!

    There should be a police booth with a policeman sitting inside during night hours. In front of Yeshiva University they have a Police booth – So the precedent is already there. OR the city should allow the community to place security booths on sidewalk corners with our own private security.

    i must report of approximately in the middle of carrol and crown there was a group of blacks around the same age sitting outside a house and all big and as i walked past i beileve they tried murmuring something at me soo this block might have some residents on it that should be punished severely IF this type of story can be substantiated and supported by other testimonies thank u!

    Most Police officers are just a product of the buerocracy that they were born of. They are not on any valient mission! they are simply doing a job and making a parnussah.

    The problem begins when all the cops come together and subconciously agree to be part of a group which cares for each-other more than for the duty that their job requiers.

    And of course ladies and gentlemen, the problem only worsens when they realize that they can tod opon these that they are paid to protect (I claim not that they are making huge wads of cash; rather that they took on themselves a certain duty for a given compensation, if they do not feel well compensated then they are free to go (as we know they put people in prison; they are not prisinors)). hmmm….

    But my freinds, hear me now, these officers walk the streets and see that we are set in our ways, that we are diffrent then are they. but lest they see we are succesfull and happy they say to themselves, ‘wait a second, what happens here.’

    and lo they take on a human trait, indeed a vice, a vice that is all to familiar with most of us, they become jelous. Next, they mumble in thier hearts and these cops decide, –most of this is occuring in a pseudo-conciouss state of mind; any pensive man of inttelect will atest to it that it happens all to often with us mortals; or should I rather say ‘us soon to be immortals’, ha ha — and they conspire in their hearts and thus seek to take revenge without entirely bending the “rules”.

    but that is the supposed beauty of a Democracy: if we play we win; if we do not than it is in the hands of others to decide our fate.

    So get up decide that you will fight!!! Don’t think that to fight is “unchassidish.”

    For the life of me, I cannot understand why the NYPD does not send patrols along the major north/south avenues of Crown Heights. I have not seen a patrol officer even on Kingston in months. I don’t care if the NYPD has impact zones up the wazoo over by Franklin and Bedford. Maybe this tragic mugging will have some impact on the Mayor and his cronies. After all, er voted for him.

    Barry Sugar must understand that his effectiveness must be with the Mayor and the Commissioner. But more importantly, he must make every mayoral candidate pledge to help the community with better policing in next year’s elections. He must get Thompson, Weiner, Quinn, and the others to promise better policing, different policing.

    And I ask Chanina to get busy on this, too. Moshe is old hat, he doesn’t know how to do any follow up with the elected officials. What a shame. Moshe worked for Bloomberg, but never asked for anything and will not get anything back.

    There have been many “calls to arms” in these comments. I hope it’s clear that the purpose of these comments is to vent and feel a bit better. But don’t be silly and think that someone is going to read a comment here and think: “I really must fight back! ‘Sick of It’ wrote in big letters that I have to! So I will!”

    The Community council, Shomrim, and community leaders, they need to do something. And if they don’t or aren’t, they need to be made to. The answer isn’t fighting back. Having more bochurim hospitalized won’t help. And arming bochurim? So they can get drunk and high and kill each other or themselves?

    We need to start teaching self defense as part of the school curriculum. Everyone has the right to defend themselves. we cannot rely on police protection. We need to help ourselves. Even if we try to get help the police will only patrol the streets for a short while. Yaakov Avinu also prepared to fight Eisav. Are we more righteous than he? They started the war. But with G-d’s help we’ll finish it!

    It has a lot to with OUR “LEADERSHIP.” Obviously it is a lot of “BS.” Pun intended. Our present “leader” is mishpocha with this bochur, but our leader has no influence with the cops. We need a leader who will be WELCOMED by the cops as were past Vaads. When there were crises the Vaad was in constant communications with the cops at all levels. For obvious reasons this no longer is the case. A little vigilanteism would probably help a lot, but real leadership that had the trust of the cops (if not all of the sh’chuna) would go far in getting the services we need.

    The only way cameras would help is if 5-10 shomrim members have hookups of those cameras in their own homes in different areas of CH to continually patrol the area EVEN ON SHABBOS AND ODD HOURS OF THE NIGHT. The police have proven time and again that they don’t care.

    Starting up with them on a regular day would definitely case riots which would only harm us instead of helping us.
    I think taking self defense classes are very important especially for woman and children who are usually weaker. Even if someone carries a gun they have to know how to use it and deal with it properly when being attached.

    This kind of thing happens in nyc all the time to all kinds of good people why do you demand preferential treatment? What makes you so much better then the average West Indian on Flatbush?

    Its funny how all the police left Flatbuush and went to your neighborhood, and left the rest of us with all the crime. Why don’t any of you guys ask the police commissioner to send more police to Flatbush and help out the whole crown heights community?
